Dropping the wife off down the Headland this morning and cut up Penrith Street and there’s me stuck till the woman driver gets out of her Land Rover.
She turns round and f#*k me it’s Vera…..What?!?!?…..then saw they were filming. We’ll at least she smiled.

Her and Ena Sharples were two ladies in comfortable shoes. Ena wore a strap on and the pair of them used to spit roast Albert Tatlock, how he managed to keep his flat cap was wonderous.

Coronation Street, never seen that for years, but for a shitty little terrace street it’s very odd…no druggies in the street, no chav’s, no terrified older residents wondering why their street became a cess pit, no burnt out house, no boarded up windows, no spray painted logo’ on the wall ‘justice for chunky’, ‘Free Lee Wanker’ , ‘Terry Plywood is a grass’ and the traditional naming of the local nonce, who usually isn’t.
Instead it’s like placing the residents of a new estate all new cars and massive debt in the wrong location. …..A joke, nearly as bed as Dead Enders where everyone wants a wash and grief is around the corner, TV to push you over the edge….os putting your foot through the TV.

was supposed to be realistic but has gone a long way from that. even the bad guy looks as frightening as kenneth williams would be running amok. no humour and the only street in the country where they walk across to a cafe for a coffee or that irratating term having a brew.

a few years back before covid i saw vera at the headland and at tea time there was george gently at seaton. the road was cut off for that and when i watched it on the box the scene itself only lasted seconds. a bit like victoria when that was filmed at the marina.

I assume there’s severe shortage of kettles and tea bags,…..do I put the kettle on or go over to the cafe and pay £2 …financial illiterates?

being manchester area based they do have a football team called wetherfield county, so its a good idea which team they thought about when they named them.

mentioning that can you get it still in pubs. like dark mild it seems hard to get now unless you go to beer festivals. one good thing about it is i,d be back on the ale if every pub stocked it again.

I used to like a bottle of Mackeson, especially as hair of the dog when a pint of keg beer tasted of iron filings.
