Hi everyone.

After our F.A cup game against you and, the good feeling surrounding it, I always kept an eye on your results and looked for an opportunity to come and watch you play.

Well, the opportunity arrived as we are spending a week in Seaham on holiday, arriving on the 26th Aug, because of the later kick-off me and my son who is 11, would like to go this game.

Having never been before is anything we need to know, like where to park? whether to order tickets in advance and which part of the ground to go to? Also any decent pubs or cafes nearby?

Sorry for the long 1st post but any advice you can give would be very welcome.

Cheers,

Jamie.

If you're stopping in Seaham, then leaving the car and getting the train might make it easier for you. Hartlepool railway station is a few minutes walk from the ground and the day return tickets are pretty cheap. It's on the same line as Seaham and there's only one stop before Hartlepool.

The marina and the museum are also close by if you're thinking of making a day of it - and McDonald's and KFC are in the vicinity too.

Hope you enjoy the game.

Jamie, your best bet is to go online and buy tickets because you can’t pay on the gate. You’ll need to register but that shouldn’t be a problem. This is the link. https://www.hartlepoolunited.co.uk/tick ... redirect=1

The Simpson Millar is the away end so you can choose any of the other three sides, assuming you want to be with the home fans. Parking is not great near the ground but you should be able to get in a street not too far away. There are two places at the ground where you can get a drink, the Corner Flag and the (I think it’s called) 1908 lounge. Both more or less next to the official car park at the away end. Sorry, don’t know if they do food!!

I hope this helps. There are many others who can probably help you more and no doubt one or two of them will follow up shortly. Good luck.

Also they are Bars & Restaurants down the Marina too. The Town Centre (Middleton Grange Shopping centre) is also a few minutes walk from the Train Station. Wetherspoons Lloyds (Ward Jackson) on Church Square.

If driving I would probably park in the town centre multi storey or plenty of street parking around the town, if you value your car  Train would be safer option.

Mill House (Neale Cooper Stand) is normally one of the best to sit or stand in (terrace uncovered). Family stand is Cyril Knowles stand.

Hopefully this will help too. Hope you enjoy the game...

Avoid the multi story car park, I think that it gets locked up at around half 6 ish which is no good for the late kick off. It could be worth parking over the Marina near the Jacksons Wharf pub

You can go online and book parking at the Asda supermarket for £2-£3 for the day. Only 5-10 min walk to the ground.
Easy away after.

Is Morisson’s car park still 3 hours?

Might not be an option if you plan a longer visit but used to see plenty of match day traffic leaving the car park after games.

always use morrisons for the match. no problem with being a tea time KO but not sure if it remains open for night games as i always used to park down by mecca as she went to bingo whilst i was at the match.

Morrisons is fine for night games and you get 3 hours parking which is more than enough time. You could go in there for a bite to eat also. Cafe there is better than Asda or Tesco

Thanks for all your replies people. Just the info I was after.

I might look at the train option as well, so I can have a few beers without worrying. But the car parking advice was also very helpful.

I will order tickets as well so we are good to go.

Me and my boy are buzzing for this!

Thanks again and here's hoping for a big win.

Jamie

Edit* Two tickets booked for the Acland homes stand!

If you need to ask for directions when you're on foot be sure to ask for the "Millhouse stand" or the 'Neale Cooper stand" - both names well known to Poolies that will still be used when the current corporate sponsor is forgotten.

My oldest son lives in Bromley and he has sent a screenshot of the ticket for Palace v Arsenal tonight at £67 - are they Gold seats?

You would think so, unfortunately this is at all clubs in the premier league, you are no longer a fan but a customer.

Me and my friends who have supported Palace for years have been largely priced out of going regularly because it's hard to justify the money you spend if you have a family and earn an average wage.

its a bloody disgrace that this is allowed to happen. suppose its supply and demand and until more turn their back on the premier league the prices will go up rather than go down. you keep hearing that the country is in some financial mess where people are frightened to put their lights on, yet there are thousands weekly at premier league grounds as well as others finding money down the back of the sofa for overpriced holidays both at home and abroad.

Oi, You! Jamie.CPFC

You'd mentioned looking at the train option from Seaham for Saturday's match.
"Unfortunately there'll be Northern Rail strikes on Saturday August 26.
A small number of routes will have a very limited train train service.
On routes where trains are running, they'll open between approximately 0800 and 1700 and are expected to be busy.
Many Northern stations will have no train service and may be closed."

The situation is unlikely to change in a couple of days, I'm afraid.
It's great that you were impressed by Pools and their fans in the cup tie and I hope we play as well as we have so far.
All the best for Saturday.

No worries!

Thanks for the heads up as well, I didn't know there was a strike on up there.

A lot of my mates who still live down there are now season ticket holders at local non league clubs because of this.

Hi,

Just adding a footnote to this thread. Me and my lad had a great time at the game and the result was a real bonus, my lad brought a scarf at the club shop and has adopted Hartlepool as his 2nd club.

There is a lot of attacking threat in your team, with Mancini in particular looking to make something happen every time he got the ball, Fylde struggled to contain him. He also found space a lot during the game with his positioning. Ferguson looked handy and, what a peach of a cross for the first goal. The guy who got two goals ( Sorry, I can't recall his name) took them well, especially the second where he rolled it in the corner. I think at 2-0 where the shot was blazed over the bar, if that had gone in it would of been a rout.

Fylde were limited but worked hard, their keeper had a couple of comedy moments and their number 11, the tall bloke was one of the poorest players I've seen at any level.

Anyway, Thanks for all the advice we got on here and at the ground. It made a very special memory for my son (11 yrs old) and me.

Best of luck with rest of the season and hopefully you will be back in league two next season.

All the best.

Jamie.

glad you and your lad enjoyed it. could not have found a better day weather wise on top of an entertaining game. really thats what most fans want, to be entertained on top of seeing their side win. best of luck for you pair and your first club throughout the season. just a pity there are not more palaces, burnleys and forests around than that so called big top 6.
