I totally trust the manager. Yes we underperformed on Saturday but he will get things sorted and this will be a very good season in my opinion. He said he needed the fans to stay on side even if results don't go our way early doors. Keep the faith and let the man get on with his job and support him and the team. UTP

yes one defeat does not make the season neither does one win either if we had got that. just wait 10 games till things settle and the possibility of the odd ones in and out happening.

Askey had every reason to expect a win if only Umerah hadn’t been sent off and he won the battle of the tactics. Gateshead started to bring on subs to crack our defence but didn’t as the defence held their line and while it may have appeared they were dictating play they were getting nowhere at a gallop. Askey decided there was no need to bring on a sub and disturb the play and opt for a breakaway goal, which he got.
It was a battle of tactics.
Gateshead assaulted their ‘jailer’ but at the end of the day were still in jail..and went home pointless.
It isn’t all about dashing football, it’s about having a plan and doing the business, it’s points we’ve got to harvest, not fancy Dan flashes of entertainment.

Stats will show they had by far the most possession, but they were toothless and created very few chances. I think their keeper actually had more shots to save, and crucially the main stat is that we scored 2 to their 1.
Another scrappy goal conceded by us but that happens, other than that our keeper hardly had a save to make. Thought the whole team did well yesterday and it's obvious that JA has the whole lot of them a damn sight fitter than last season.
Roll o Tuesday night.

Poolies are born survivors Kev…if there’s ever a global nuclear war, when it’s all over and everywhere is black, glowing and radioactive, cockroaches, rats and Poolies will emerge from the devastation and ask if that Saturdays match against York is still on or postponed.

still do not think its that weak a league this season. its just over the last couple of seasons clubs with really big gates and publicity behind them have been promoted out of it. their replacements have been smaller supported teams including us compared to wrexham and notts county.

better be careful as stockport might be in for him after their dreadful start. i liked challinor with us but given the choice between him and askey i,d plump for the latter.

We thought it was a weak league first time round and Dover soon opened our eyes, the differences is we’d signed a load of dross then.

we were less of a basket case on the pitch when we first went down so many thought at the time we were only on loan to that league for a season before we stormed back up. so many other ex league clubs thought the same. then we had harrison running the show instead of JA.

League club’s and the fans thought it was a waiting room for the express back the League, then found the ticket machine wasn’t working.

Yes keep going JA and the lads. Well done tonight. Do them over at Saltergate on Monday. Top so just stay there this time. For some strange reason W Hill had Pools out at 20/1 to win the league mid week. Took them I believe at 12s early on but had to lump on again but wondered if they knew something? Enjoy it while it lasts. Like life I suppose.

Mr 2nil -

Whilst I preferred the open terrace behind the goal at Saltergate- don't turn up there if you're travelling to the game on Monday (assume it's been levelled for housing) - they've got a soulless breeze block job now- think it was called the Proact Stadium when I was last there.

I do echo your sentiments though- come on Pools- a win there and we might just about have lift off! Would be a massive statement of intent and I believe as things stand we can then only get stronger.

The team are getting better game by game and once we get a clean sheet or two and get in the habit of keeping the back door shut- we will develop an aura - and beat some teams before a ball has even been kicked! (to be fair I've had a couple of victory ales- and have got my rose tinted glasses on)!

I think one of the big things that comes across from JA is how level headed he is, in his approach. Yes, we've had 4 wins in a row- however he's not getting carried away and can still identify the areas we need to improve and strengthen.

Think Barnet away was a good lesson for the squad and has grounded them- and hopefully helps reinforce the need to get off the bus at away games.
.
I think we as fans also need to try and keep our feet on the ground too. We are not going to win every game but if we can average 2 points per game, we'll be in a good place come what May - (or should that be the end of April)!

In Askey We Trust rolf

just wish it had been at saltergate as i,d be there for sure. unless you get to the new ground very early and leave before the final whistle i get the impression like many of these places today it will be a nightmare to park at first and then get away at the end. if its a dull cool day i might give it a go but any sign of that big yellow light in the sky its my last go with the live stream.
