The shops closing have been announced today apparently and quite a few are closing, but not Hartlepool….according to the wife.

It's a pity but they are/were carrying too many (rarely bought) product lines.

I remember going into their store in Great Yarmouth a couple of years ago looking for some walking stick ferrules and found a good range and all about £1 each.

Products like these cannot be making any money for Wilko along with many others and have contributed to their probable demise.

Would you buy any of their pick 'n mix range when you see kids and adults handling them with their hands - no thanks.

Most high street shops are suffering because of Covid, people were ordering online during Covid and getting delivery to the door step because of the restrictions. This has continued since restrictions were relaxed, not only goods but food as well. Wilkos is rarely very busy and some of the stuff I used to buy from there is either out of stock or no longer available for some reason.

Maybe the suppliers are wary of supplying knowing they might not be paid for them.

can count the number of times i have been in any wilko store. there never seem that well planned out to me and you wonder around for ages looking for something you can find elsewhere much quicker and a similar price. shopping for me is something that needs to be done as quickly as possible with the least amount of money spent.

everything that can be bought in Wilkos can now be bought just as cheap in either B&M or Home bargains - these place are now on most retail parks across the country with free parking. Wilkos was always a cheap DIY shop for me or a go to all for odds and sods. very rare we venture into there now and always just use the likes of B&M etc... (even though B&M and HB are both also in our town centre too).
