Anybody heard anything about his status ?(hopefully not on the treatment table)!

Reckon he could be as good as a new signing if assuming he's still turning up for training?!

The lad clearly has ability and got to be worth a short term deal, given the money that was thrown at Luke Williams?

He played the full second half against Sunderland a week ago but hasn't been given a squad number. The friendlies against Blyth and the Mackems were his first games in 18 months so you'd imagine he's still working on his rehabilitation.

there is no rush this season to give him a squad number until the club is totally sure about him.

we absolutely cannot afford this season to carry any passengers - i think JA isnt the type to just do him a favour and sign him up for the crack.

dont want him to be another Williams and he will be an asset for us should he get fit - hes more than capable of operating and scoring goals at this level should he be match fit !

as far as i am aware hes still training with the club and we are obliged to keep his treatment up so he doesnt sue the ass off us for negligence

From today's Mail:

"With the season now underway Askey has yet to hand Cook a contract with priorities, at the moment, laying elsewhere.

Cook continues to train with Hartlepool but with the 33-year-old now unable to get competitive game time without being registered, the striker may have to consider his options if he is to try and play regularly this season.

Both parties, as has been the case for a prolonged period, are happy with the current set-up after Cook was able to carry out his rehabilitation with the club, but should any offers arrive for Cook then he may be open to considering them, at least on a short-term basis, to allow Hartlepool the opportunity to see him in regular, competitive action before reassessing their stance."

Cooke should get himself a gig at Marske or Whitby or another local tyneside team playing in the higher divisions of non league.

we should assess him and any night games send someone to go see him. Shame Kelly isnt about - something he could of done on match days if Cooke was playing.

shame as hes still the right age and has the experience

Seems a good plan to go out on a short term deal at a local none league team to regain match fitness. If he can manage a few games without getting injured might be worth a contract. His entire career has been littered with injuries so who knows.
