That is shocking!
Quite a few piss poor attendances in the National League yesterday - particularly as it was the season opener. Just shows how tinpot this league is.

Maybe most of there fans were keeping their powder dry, for the Charity Shield today v Man City

I suspect the poor attendace will have something to do with the new stadium not actually being in Barnet and their fans having to travel from Barnet to Harrow where the new stadium is. Its not a long distance but maybe their fans are fickle. Besides, London has many football clubs at all levels so I guess you'd need to be ultra dedicated to be a Banet fan.

And they won.
Made us look like a sland boro youth team.
Our support is worthy of a better return than were we are now.
Expecting 4000+ v Gateshead.
Hopefully the barnet debacle is a distant memory come 5:06pm Saturday.
UTP.
Dosent look likely a takeover is gunna happen anytime soon. Even JA said theres a lot of expectation being put on him. Hes certainly got a tough job on his hands.
Got to up his win ratio rapidly..

Er, what is our performance on one day and their piss poor support to do with anything. sctatchinghead
Whether we won or lost makes no difference even if we’d won 12-0 , it was the poor crowd I was on about.

problem with this league is many clubs do not need big gates not only to survive but to kick on and get to the play offs. better financial backing even if not to the wrexham amounts. it always seems the ex league clubs with the bigger gates that get into a financial mess and not the traditional non league sides. not a knock at raj but it does seem a fact. you get no extra points for the size of attendance but it just winds fans up when you get beat by sides with vast open spaces on the terrace.

I wonder if in one game our away support exceeds the home crowd?

We had 500+ at Barnet, so it’s heading that way.
I wonder what the Forest Green ‘MASSIVE’ did before they discovered Vegan football. sctatchinghead

For some reason i thought Barnet had a bigger support - their new stadium looks half decent and was obviously built with the capacity to which their support aligns ? maybe ?

anyways was piss poor from them and a team tipped for top 5 should be having bigger crowds on the opening day

Didn't we outnumber the home support at Rochdale in our end of season game in 2007?
We took something 3500 that day.
I wouldn't swear to it but it must have been close.

Maybe their ‘absent’ fans were suffering from pre new ground tension and couldn’t possibly turn up till it was finished

And Richie Barker also got his marching orders, after making a great one handed save! The ground was bouncing- think had we won, that day we'd have won the league. But typical Pools, buckled when in with a sniff of some much coveted silverware to add to the Comcast Cup!

Remember going to Braintree in the Conference - we just about outnumbered them, given the distance. We absolutely battered them, yet Drew 1-1, Noble missed a penalty and KILLIP had a blinder in goal for them. There was no segregation that day, we fans changed ends at half time and also had a few jars in the clubhouse.

Remember that match at Rochdale, fancy dress was the 70’s and after the match the coaches parked up alongside the stand (with the narrowest turnstiles ever) we sat on the coach waiting for two who were missing when someone pointed out two lads in their twenties sitting on a wall, someone went over and asked then they started laughing and walked off …apparently the lads asked him why he thought they were off the bus, he explained the 70’s outfits for the day and they looked like they were taking part.

Big fan of 'Bob' Monkhouse - he was a quality player for us and I was gutted when he left.
Not only did he have pace and a goal in him, his shithousery was first class! A proper wind up merchant who would piss off both opponents and their fans to great effect. We haven't replaced his craft since he departed.

Barnet used to get gates like that in the football league, always been a poorly supported club.

Agree with you Richy- remember seeing many a goal highlights package with their sparsely spread fans cheering a goal on the open terrace behind the goal at Underhill.
Their old ground also had a shocking slope on it- so always depended which way you were kicking!

unless its a local derby or so called big fa cup match that drag fans out most clubs have a maximum and minimum attendances. even those on the up will see the extra numbers dissapear once the lean days arrive back.

Too true, KP. I visited Underhill on several occasions, one of which had Danny Dichio (QPR) playing for them (I believe he scored?). When we were playing down the slope, a Pools player had a shot from distance which sailed over their keeper's head only for the slope to carry the bounce of the ball over the bar instead of the gaping net.
