Good luck to the lad. I think we’ll miss him.

Will def do a job with more mobile and physical midfielders around him but really means you always have to play 3 in midfield to make up for his mobility

true. a bit of a luxury player in a good team with the right players around him. his best games have always been when pools are doing well. did he cause that to happen or just a coincidence. all in all a far better player many gave him credit for in all his seasons at pools. even in his bad games there were others far worse but it was him singled out for the stick.

Maybe they can afford him, but I suspect it would be a luxury for us.
Wonder how long he’s been in contact with Stockport….?

Well at least he'll get a big payday before dropping down the league's - given the money they are currently throwing at players. Particularly as he's a free transfer.

Good luck to the lad - been a good servant to Pools, just a pity he didn't get more of a send off from the fans. Don't think anybody would begrudge him rinsing Stockport out of a few quid and be less travelling.

Mind you Stockport fans aren’t the most ‘understanding’ of supporters.h

one thing they do have in common with a hell of a lot of poolies i,m afraid. always think that going through the turnstiles causes brain cells to cease working for 2 hours and only come back once leaving grounds. football rage is far more common than any other rage we get.

Can't see them signing him myself, not good enough for top half of div 2 imo. If he was someone would've signed him from us when he was younger / fitter and coming out of contract.

no matter what we do think of the lad he was with us for 9 seasons and in that time there has never been a real rumour of another club showing interest in him. quite rare nowadays for this to happen. the only thing that does annoy me on the whole featherstone saga is the club not giving him a decent offer to allow him a testimonial match as it would not have bankruped the club to do it. its hard to imagine we have no player worse than him in our squad for next season.

In all fairness a testimonial should have been arranged for the end of last season, a bit embarrassing after nine years at the club.

Maybe a bit harsh, but he was made an offer and turned it down otherwise he would've got the 10 years and testimonial.

Hope he gets a good contract from someone. A good pro imo.

I don't know the ins and outs of new contract offers that are made to players who are out of contract at the various clubs up and down the country and I have no intention of making anything up but if he was offered a contract by Pools and that was the only one on the table, the fact that he is training at Stockport, courtesy of DC, suggests to me that there isn't a queue forming to get his services, so why not take the offer, get stuck in and try and force his way into JA's plans. Maybe he could also help with the youngsters and who know if he also impresses whilst doing that he may just be forging a new career for himself still in football.
Based on those assumptions If it was me I'd want to stay.
Also why couldn't he train with pools at least until got fixed up. It all sounds a bit fishy to me. You don't walk away from earning just like that, unless you're well heeled.
Father Time does usually have the last word though.

Pools offered him a contract and he turned it down.Fair enough, but it would be a bit much for him to say can I train with you till I get fixed up.

depends how poor it actually was though.could have been the final nail in the coffin for him and pools. at least he got paid for the last 9 years at pools unlike us having to pay for the priveledge of one and a half good seasons and the rest being crap. hope he writes a book and holds nothing back about his time in football. i,d order my copy now if i heard he was doing it.

possibly you are right but still feel the club should have respected the blokes service to the club better. What real difference would a good one season deal have been to a club servant when all those around him in 9 years have jumped ship at the first opportunity they got. we cannot have it both ways.

hes training with them thats it - called in a favour from his pal DC.

turned us down so fair enough - onto the next one - think if he had stayed 10 years then yeh he would of gotten the testimonial he deserved which is a shame.

he wouldn't make the Stockport B team

Considering he was made an offer and acceptance would've given him a testimonial year with the extra income that would bring in for him it's difficult to understand why he didn't sign.
Maybe didn't like the thought of not being the main man in midfield and wants to play rather than sit on the bench?
