Yesterday’s heavy rain once again showed the necessity of getting some remedial work done to the approaches to the Mill House side of the ground. I have recently e mailed my local councillor about the problem. I urge all local Bunkerites to email their councillors asking for help to get some improvement done. When you consider the amount of money spent on the Tall Ships event surely a fairly small amount of money could be found to make the much needed repairs.

they go on about health and safety when it suits them and with so many walking down there on match days surely its a bigger problem than many other places have.

Looking at the boundary lines for Pools area of responsibility puts those paths as Pools problem, however, if that where the case according to the lines on the map they’d also be responsible for Mill House’s 5 a side pitches too, which suggests it isn’t all that cut and dried.
Seriously though the Council is happy to maintain all sorts of obscure rights of ways and paths, would it be asking too much to make safe a path used by a lot of people albeit once a fortnight on average.

That Mill House master plan was started by the Romans for the Clarence Road Coliseum chariot racing league.
Apparently in an archaeological dig on the site, a tablet was found with writing on and all it said, from someone called Kevus Poolius complaining about the lack of horses at the start of the chariot racing season!

Rumour has it there’s documents locked away (explaining why it can’t be touched) verifying it as part of the fabled Anglo Saxon ‘Road to Nowhere’ and a crossroads with the equally notorious ‘Highway to Hell’….I kid you not.
