Looks like the Tall Ships road closure plans is going to cause some confusion for the time it’s on. The sheer number of junctions being buggered about with is gonna cause some headaches.
Relatives down the Headland have told me everyone with a car has to have an official permit to go there, will there a ‘Checkpoint Codhead’ with razor wire, machine gun tower and road block barrier….? We should be told.
I’ll give it a miss.

It was a shambles the last time, the Council laid down a load of double yellows all over the town to force people to use the Park and Ride, the buses were empty. It should be free parking everywhere, we want to welcome visitors not drive them away.

Checkpoint codhead..........thats always been the case nowt new there

Double yellow lines breeding like rats all over town.

Looks like the rail station wont be fully open although it was promised by #UslessJill.

I was thinking of going on my bike but no doubt it would be regarded as danger.

Are Pools going to have a stand promoting the club?

TBH i am looking forward to it as the last one was good. Cheap beer and food on sale at the Smallcrafts BTW.

"Checkpoint Codhead" might stop cars getting into the Headland. I bet the "Organising Committee" haven't thought about access from the sea. I can't see any razor wire and landmines on the fish sands.

Now I may be a Party Political cynic….but it’s odd how while she gets stick, but not a whimper about her Labour predecessor when he resigned abruptly and subsequently a tribunal found against him over his behaviour towards a female Parliamentary worker resulting in him having to pay her substantial compensation’.
I agree boring old Jill may well be anonymous, useless, disappointing even, a tragedy of an MP ….. but not a whimper on here about him sctatchinghead …..and he was really boring.
Again …call me a cynic, but……. ‘repetition does not a fact create, it only raises doubts about the message’.
We have been poorly served since Ted departed.

you cannot say things like that. do not ever think of putting up for the council if all you can offer is common sense.

I’ve fed the road closures into the master computer and put a bit more coal on to build up steam and the GTI abacus estimates that with all the exits closed if you get on the A689 right up to the Wesley you will have to drive in a loop for four days between there and Wolviston till the petrol dries up or you pass out due to lack of sleep.
Good luck, you’ll need it.

Maybe I am wrong but how many thousands of people will be coming to the Tall Ships to necessitate all the road closures ?
On another note I remember the last one when our illustrations mayor aka HAngus ended up the worse for wear through his alcohol intake.

If Hartlepool returns red and Labour form a Government after the next election, we will return to the status quo of meekly standing by while Starmer et al empty the tin again.

I'm either a bit cynical myself or the form book will have to be turned upside down.
Where have all the Dennis Skinners and Wedgewood Benns gone. Manny Shinwell must be turning in his grave.

there are still a few of those figures about but are totally placed at the rear of any back bench they can find. its the grey ones in the centre who will screw us down who have bigger masters than those who are daft enough to elect them. if things stay as they are i can see a very low turnout at the next general election because what is the point or real alternatives on offer. with the first past the post system a protest vote for a new party is pointless and could get zero mp,s but a large percentage of the votes.

back to the road chaos. it made me remember the farce we had to go through when the tour de france passed the end of our road. the powers that be shut the main road at 7am only to open it up about 5 in the afternoon. it took about 10 minutes for the whole thing to pass about 6 hours after the road closed. it must a a british thing where they have no clue whatsoever or go completely OTT.

I was out with Ratboy this morning and I usually pass this lady with her dog and in chatting she mentioned the road closures and how ridiculous it was,…..then the Devil came on my shoulder     and told her I agreed but apparently it’s because with it being international Interpol have ordered it. ….and left.

Our lass always gives me grief for it but it’s only mischief, she says it’s childish, it is …..but who cares.
Anyway, most of them nowadays would think Interpol was a UN body to protect the World’s parrots..’Interpolly’….people really are getting dumber.

think of the most far fetched thing you can think of and tell em. they,ll believe it straight away especially if its on facebook or twitter. some actually believe it because its on those platforms. the sylums run and inhabited by the same lunatics.

If you can keep a straight face when you’re winding someone up, it’s amazing what people will believe.
I think oddly enough it was Bob Monkhouse who said ‘if you can fake sincerity you’ve got it made.’

that made me think of most politicians who only pretend they care plus anyone who can still remember the king of all that hughie green.

Coming out of town on the A179, the slip road to turn left onto the A19 and head south, will be closed when the Tall Ships is on. I can't think of any logical reason why they are doing that. Suppose you live in Hart or Clavering & work in Stockton/Boro etc, you will have to go through the town to get to work those days, causing more traffic to be in the centre.

This road plan defies logic….I can’t wait to try it out, could be fun. Better get a flask and packed lunch, I could be gone some time.

Just read "Hartbeat" magazine the council produces every few months and it stated the new Wesley hotel will be open in 18-36 months.........?
It also states the new rail platform will be open later in the year. It was supposed to be complete in time for the tall ships.
Nothing has happened with the re imaging of the shopping centre. Odeon, Engineers etc etc
All these promises which were made years ago are total bollocks.

You also cannot turn right at the Binns (Wilkinsons), Wesley set of lights to head south down the dual carriageway.

what on earth is this going to help solve during the event. total and utter bollocks and yet again the council starving the headland business' due to all this. The footfall into the town will be very good for that weekend and literally none of it will end up at the headland. Then all the other rubbish stopping cars and other people will also exhaust the business' up there. Takeaways etc

Looks like all the traffic lights on the 689 are going to be turned off and the gaps closed so all you can do is turn left……I bet the planners who thought this up live out of town.

You will probably find most of the Council pen pushers don’t live in the town.

Like I said, they’re like colonial officials in the days of Empire…they ride into town to tell us how to live and ride out again when the day ends.

too many layers of governments telling us what and not to do in our lives. national one, county one and town ones. load of amerteurs being told or telling others what to say and how to act. then there are the unelected ones like the world health organisation and the world economic forum shoving there nose into stuff as well.
