According to the 2021 census in England and Wales only 1.5 million people in England and Wales identified as Black, Caribbean or African (just 2.5% of the population) compared with 49 million Whites, 5.5 million Asians (including Chinese) and another 2.5 million people who described themselves as Mixed Ethnicity or 'Other' (mainly Arabs).

So there's really no rational explanation for what seems like every other person in adverts these days being Black. Maybe all the women polled in advertisers' market research really like the fantasy of being married to Idris Elba?
