The only ‘merry men’ I know of are Robin Hood’s lads……was Friar Tuck and Big John with them.

Chris Turner is the rumoured front man to of approached Raj with a consortium backed by wealthy local backers.

no names have been mentioned but the meeting 100% went ahead and so far hearing its gone in all the right directions.

lets see what happens this week coming. No doubt if its a true bid to buy the club its going to take weeks due to NDAs etc for the mail to be able to actually report on anything and who they are - im hearing it wont be until Raj has literally shaken hands and received funds that we will see anything concrete.

also hearing 3 new players are due next week aswell - already names mentioned on another post

Maybe Messrs Musgrave and Corney would be willing to assist in the purchase of Pools the 2 involved in the sale of land at Redcar steelworks.
By July last year, £63m had been made by selling 205,774 tonnes of scrap metal. One assessment, commissioned by Tees Valley Combined Authority, found there could be more than 370,000 tonnes on the site.

If by some miracle they did, would you reject them as you seem to disapprove of their business…?

These rumours can't be true because nobody ever wants to buy Pools, or so we are told.

They are property developers, in the business of making money, no interest in Pools, quite a few tons of scrap if they were able to buy the ground and sell it.
It was mentioned that Singh has dropped what he wants for Pools, maybe doesn’t want the hassle anymore ?

singh just cannot win. if he insists on one price he,ll be accused of overpricing the club and wanting every single penny back. if he reduces the price then it will be open to more who have the money to buy but nothing much else to push us on with and the situation will start all over again.

The way we are currently going we are more likely to be playing national league north in 1 or 2 years than football league, I think its time we took a chance on new owners. Raj did what no one else did and saved us and he should always be remembered for that, but he has proven now with two clubs he is unable to sustain football league clubs at two reasonably sized North east clubs.

The way we are currently going doesn't signal NLN in 1 or 2 years at all.
We've got a manager who almost managed to keep us in Div2 with possibly the worst squad in recent history some of whom didn't want to play for us. He's been here long enough and knows NL level inside out so knows what's required.
The last 2 close seasons have been a joke for various reasons whereas this time around we've got time to build a squad and prepare them for the season ahead which is a massive plus imo.
Let's give him a chance to build a squad and actually play a dozen games or so before writing us off I to even lower level football.
I'm quite optimistic for the new season regardless of if Raj is still here or not.

The worst squad in our history now doesn't have a midfielder who scored 1 in 2 games, we are also probobly going to lose mo sylla, many regarded him as our best player, add to this talk that a lad who scored 32 in 2 seasons is possibly not going to be here either.

it's all very well having a good manager, but he needs to be backed. We will be back in training in what 1 maybe 2 weeks? We have signed some promising lad from scarbourough who might not even be first choice and a keeper, hell of a lot of work to do and time is ticking if we're even to assemble a squad capable of surviving let alone competing.

Don't be surprised if we aren't taken over, askey going the way of all the other managers raj has employed before Christmas.

It's Pools so nothing would surprise me but writing us off at the start of June is just crazy imo.
Yes we're losing Umerah who doesn't want to be here but let's be honest he had a poor 2nf half to the season. Sylla who's a good player but not a team player, and Kemp who is way better than NL. But the fact that it is NL we're going I to means overall poorer teams than Div2.
As for backing the manager, by all accounts our wage bill last season wasn't the worst in the Div but it was clearly wasted, Hastie being one of the highest paid but not good enough to get in the side for example, that wasn't Raj's fault in any way.
We've got about 2 months to the start of the season, and to be fair there hasnt been a great deal of transfer activity this close season at any level yet, most players contracts only expired 10 days ago.

I'm not writing us off I'm just realistic. Raj can say what he likes about budgets, proof is in the pudding where we get these players from. Last year it was the Scottish leagues. St mirren just come out and said we can't cope with teams in league 1 and 2 in England they are willing to pay 2 or 3 times the rate. We built a squad around these types of clubs last season, obviously cos it was cheap. Let's remember last season we went into pre season tour with 8 players, a complete joke.

The season before we ended up that desperate we got the likes of fondop. I don't see why this season will be any different. I've yet to see us go to a team in league 2 over the last 2 seasons and get someone who is actually still in their team, the closest was probobly cook. That's 1 league 2 standard player in 2 seasons, yet doncaster and mansfield have cherry picked us at will.

This close season is deja vu to last season sign two players appease the fans for a bit, whilst losing your better players along the way or them basically just going back to their clubs. Let's see if things change over the next month I highly doubt it, unless someone with money comes in.

But it is different this time.
After the promotion we had players who had agreements with clubs guaranteeing league football, coupled with us not knowing which league we'd bein and the very short close season.
Last season was a shambles down to the idiot that was brought in as manager at such a late stage too the recruitment guy and the guy who sorted out the pre season.
This time so far we've got a manager and recruitment guy who seem to be singing off the same hymn sheet, we've got pre season planned, the shambles of a ticketing system should be behind us, we've signed a keeper who played half a seasons worth of games in Div 1 last season. So in my eyes were in far better shape at this stage than for 2 seasons.

Think Sylla was gone about a month before the season end, Should be no where near the club.
As for Josh if he fancies another season, Good.

Don,t know about cherry picking but i think Sterry made his mind up a while ago he would be off, As did Oates, As did Armstrong a done deal well before the PO final.
I,m not appeased by a young prospect from Sboro, But the kepper is imo a big step up.
I also believe Askey is shrewed in his choices, Is also a manager who knows his way around the level we find ourselves.
And i,m also not appeased by any statement Raj puts out, Because he actually underestimates fans Intelligence which if you think about it
Really shows us all his level of intelligence.
Sounds a little like Hignett and his postage stamp, Same level as Raj i would say.

They made their minds up because they were offered more money, if we offered good wages these players would of stayed. The first thing raj does is once again pin the blame on the fans as the reason he puts the club up for sale. I don't think this guy realises how lucky he was last season, what a little chant 20 minutes from the end of the most important game of the season. He would of gotpelters from July onwards at most clubs, here it took till we were virtually down before anyone really questioned him. He is supposedly jumping ship now because most fans are onto the rubbish spiel he gave everyone about play off budgets etc.

Don't think it was the chants at the last game, more the abuse of his family which is inexcusable, and like it or most of us would react similarly to protect our family.

Well…… life will go on and I’ll be positive with JA in charge.
Driving along constantly looking back in the rear view mirror gets you nowhere.

all i am hoping for is a half decent season and anything better will be a bonus. this is far better to be a poolie than a chelsea fan in there collective mentdown of not having european football next season.

Meeting also held on saturday at Maiden Castle - this isnt confirmed by my same source, however he said there was to be another meeting just didnt state where or when so 2 and 2 together (is always 6 where pools are concerened) but hey ho...

see what this week brings and if we sign any of the 3 players we are linked with (possible 4 now) then i know hes on the money with his inside info.

also to add...

say Raj did sell for top dollar and said buyer bought it for top dollar - at least we know they have money (win win for all the way i see it)
plus they will have passed the proof of funds test etc..

im sure Raj will have a figure in head as to what should be needed to at least keep the club going forwards - if those interested have not even got that then we would be up shit creek - if they show alot more, again win win - have to sometimes think of these situations like that too

I heard that the meeting which was scheduled to take place about the original meeting has now been rescheduled due to the latter meeting clashing with a meeting that had formally been cancelled overlapping a meeting due to take place about it.

Anybody else heard that?

All together now…… violin ” We’ll meet again, don’t know where, don’t know when.
…but I know we’ll meet again before too long…possibly.” :violin:
