2 comparative minnows who've been through pretty lean times to contest a place in the PL.
Shows what can be done with the right structure and people in place. Mark Robins has done really well at Coventry over a prolonged period.

both clubs have been in the top flight before but i cannot see the welcome mat being rolled out for either. think they,d prefer seeing a yo yo west brom or norwich back up there. hope luton do it though.

They are going to have to spend big time to have any chance of staying there, Above and beyond the PL payments.

I doubt either would be able to beat the PL bottom 3 as it stands.

Watched Luton out muscle Sunderland, they were just too big and physically powerful for them. I’d fancy them to get past Coventry as well but I’m not sure how they would fare in the Premiership.

They will need to add a bit more to their game than just height and muscle to stay up in that league I think…

Facts are that both were in div 2 about 5 year ago, both almost were on the verge of going bust, Coventry played home games at Northampton for a couple of seasons if memory serves me right.
Just goes to show what we'll run outfits can do.

Kenilworth Road according to this video is not up to Premier League standards, they might have to ground share ?

Promoted back into the Football League in 2014 & Mpanzu has been there all the time. Come on Pools, let's beat that turnaround time & join the big-time clubs - Luton, Brentford, Brighton & Bournemouth

Featherstone could be the second player to play for the same team from non league to the premiership and the first to captain every game.

what worries me for clubs and their fans is attempting to copy these clubs. throw millions down the drain attempting to get to the holy gtail but fail miserably along the way, leading to admin and dropping further down than where they started. if it happens then it happens, but i doubt a single luton fan expected to make the premier league once they got out of the national league.

Have Coventry and Luton spent fortunes to get to this point though?

have not a clue as i could not name a player off the top of my head who plays for either club. its really more about luton than coventry who have a premier league ground and had a long period playing in the premier league. there are many luton sized clubs across the country and the point i was trying to make is some could attempt to copy lutons success by using the cheque book and not sensible management to get there and it ending in tears especially for the fans.

After watching the games against Sunderland and Coventry I thought Luton just play L2/Nat League football obviously with better players i.e big and physical.

Highfield Road Coventry City was the first all seater stadium in English football under the Jimmy Hill era. The rest as they say is history. I must admit to having a wee chuckle at them not beating Luton for my late dad a Sunderland fan born Houghton-Le-Spring. Coventry City and Bristol City played out a nonsense 15 minute kick about to send Sunderland down. Carlisle made my day today well almost as I wanted Everton to go as it was The Toffees who beat Sunderland 2-0 and the two cities whose game was put back 15 minutes knew Sunderland would go down and both they would survive if the score stayed the same. Interesting to see what Luton Town achieve next season.
