Always thought we had seen an end of this. Buying another car which is in kidderminster. Was going to get one of those 24 hour insurance policies to bring it back home as i,m not going to use it till the end of next month as hopefully i can sell my present car and start a new policy with my no claims bonuses. Being over 75 i cannot get one so have had to get it transported up for me. Luckily the seller is in business as a car transporter so he is charging mates rates and doing another return job after delivering mine. Any other incidents that people know of where they are trying their best to exclude us old gits. even telling em i was a trans gay lesbian didn,t wash with em.

Did you try telling them that despite your official age, you identified as 21 yr old?

It has not been tackled as an issue which is a disgrace.

Some clubs still have a 60 age limit for seniors. Chesterfield I believe is one such club.

I bought a full price season ticket for 20 years at Pools. Some of those years I also bough a ST for my son. I bought a concession ST for 3years before some Temporary Chief Executive who came from Darlington, suddenly the consession age goes up to 65.

Still grieves me after 4 year.

It was illegal at one time for an employer to ask your age, you didn’t have to put it on your CV, an employer couldn’t stipulate an age limit on a job advert either.

Its done very subtly and is more rife that race or sex was since the 1960s.It mainly targeted at late 40s and in 50s year old.
But then again i dont want a job

Generally some employers wanted younger people with families and mortgages as they were more committed. I was fortunate when I got older in my 50s I got jobs through word of mouth and contacts. As I went into my 60s when my contacts had retired it was more difficult, I ‘retired’ at 62 as no one wanted to employ me which I believe was done to ageism not my ability.

I was fortunate to continue working until shortly before my 68th birthday, & could probably have still been there if the pandemic hadn't forced me to work from home. I then didn't want to go back into the office, so it fortunately for me worked out very well.
Although there was an element of "reporting realignment" I was "replaced" at 3 times my salary cost.
I do some part-time consultancy for some of my former colleagues, & in turn to their colleagues to whom they have recommended me. The work generates the equivalent of a 75% higher hourly rate than my employer paid me

its at times a pre concieved idea what an older person is like. we are not all doddering old gits with walking sticks we do not want or mobility scooters when we have do disability apart from being vastly overweight and lazy. at 76 i refuse to dress like a 76 year old and only packed in reffing 18 months ago because of the woke bullshit that was brought in. since my cataract ops i can now type this without my specs, walk 2 hours every day, done more miles in reverse that some go forward in their lives but are still classed as a second class citezen. cannot wait for the yearly visit from age concern to voice my gripe about short time car insurance and other stuff i might find out. not going to let this one go without a fight or stirring up as much shit as possible.
