That's curtains today. Fat lady has sang. We will lose to Salford, Crawley will beat Colchester as they are safe (pretty much) meaning Crawley play out a 0-0 next week against us, giving them 45pts needing 1pt out of the last two games.

Harrogate play Walsall on Tuesday, Safe and game in hand with Newport.

That's us needing to beat Barrow and Stockport and still that may not be enough.

That's the season over. banghead

In reality it was over after the first game. Think we all knew what was coming by September. The last eight unbeaten have just given us poor sods some misguided hope.

That is very true, at least it did give us something to cheer about. Not much admittedly.

After the Grimsby win and Stevenage draw I was feeling optimistic. I never learn!

It’s been a bad day but it’s still in our hands. Next week things could look very different and we’ll all be sucking each others dicks!

(Philosophically not literally)

1 defeat in 9 and this is the immediate reaction?

Today was shite, inexplicably shite and indefensible but come on it's still in our hands.

I’ve just said something very similar on a different thread.

The problem it seems to me is why Pools played so badly after all these unbeaten games. By all accounts we played like strangers like we did during Curle's regime. Can this suddenly change? The other concern is the horrible away game at Salford.

Colchester are not safe yet and will get a result at Crawley, we just need to match it and it's back in our hands next weekend. It's not over just yet, though fat lady may be in full voice depending on Tuesday nights results.

Need to revert back formation and never have Sylla and Featherstone on pitch at the same time again.

We've been competitive in these last 9 games other than today and went to to toe with promotion challengers, been bloody good in some and a touch fortunate in others but we've been rewarded with an uptick in performances and points, it's Askey's first bump in the road and some of our fans have fully shit their kecks.

We might get turned over Tuesday, I think we probably will also, but so might Crawley, so might Harrogate and it's still game on, let's just wait and see before we go writing them off that's all.

It's the manner we got beat in. If we lost one in nine with 4 games to go, with no pressure matches. It won't worry me.

It's the fact that this was our last 'easy game on paper' on paper.

Salford away, never won there or scored there in the league.

Crawley 2pts above us will just put 10 men behind the ball for the 0-0 and point.

Barrow, crap record at the Vic, but pushing for playoffs.

Then Stockport away, say no more.

Not been negative, but it's like running for a train with the doors closing. Either you make it or you don't.

Tuesday night is key, they are not great at home, if we pick something up it's game on, it's not over just yet

‘Easy game on paper’…..? Whoever said that was talking through their orifice, there are no easy games at this point in the season.

Just ordered my ticket for the Salford game, hopefully I'll be a (local) lucky charm. :)

Loads of permutations.
Could get 10 more points n still go down.
Only in our own hands if we win all 4.

Mathematics n Hope a wicked combination.
UTP.

actually on paper salford should be an easier game as they do not rely on set pieces, corners and long throws which to a pools defence is like showing a crucifix to a vampire.

This............or like Kryptonite to Superman. Unfortunately as it has been so often said, football is not played on paper. Salford might just conceivably drop a point but realistically we will lose this one.

If you start looking at results through the top 5/6 tiers of different Football Leagues there are many sides getting good results who are trying to avoid relegation. There are top sides trying to get into a play off position but their results are not very good.

It can be a funny old game and not much is predictable which gives us still hope that results will go our way over these last 4 games.

What is predictable is Crawley picking up wins on a fairly consistent basis. They got hammered 4-0 last week but won today. They are pretty good at home against the leagues also rans. They seem to find a way to get the precious three points. We have some really tough games coming up.

What’s been annoying as well is that Harrogate have come from 2 down in each of their last 3 games to get draws. Without those they’d be on 39 pts with us which would have given us another lifeline.

Yep, we do have a pretty tough job staying up. With some luck on our side recently I was wondering if lady luck was beginning to smile on us but Saturday proved this theory wrong. The Trannies missing the penalty, for example...not saying we were unlucky against Newport.

think some were getting a bit overconfident of pools going unbeaten for the rest of the season. a defeat was bound to happen especially away from home. those who did the fixtures must have had a laugh putting pools away to newport and salford on the bounce. we need to get something out of salford on tuesday, however at the start of the season even with a decent team i doubt many expected anything from these two games.

Credit where it's due. Pools came from behind to get a result several times during the unbeaten run. I imagine fans of our rivals at the bottom were equally annoyed by that  See Armstrong is back in amongst the goals for them.

Nobody has rolled over and died at the bottom - not even Rochdale. It really is an anybody can beat anybody on the day league.

Whats happened to the NSD attitude? We were bound to have a bad day in nine even Man City have that.
Buck yourselves up and get rid of these negative vibes.

I am having a tenner on us going down though bbolt
