Seem to have an uncanny knack of turning their season around and going on long winning runs, currently winning 5-2 away at promotion chasing Eastleigh. Also can produce goalscorers such as Macaulay Langstaff, if only we'd signed him when Notts County did he must be worth a fortune now .

Yeah, I keep an eye on the NL for obvious reasons and have been impressed by Gateshead's recent form. They were in serious danger of relegation but have put together a sequence of wins a promotion seeking team would be proud of. I see Scunthorpe are relegated to the NLN.
There but for the grace of God go we.

Glad to see Torquay have given themselves a fighting chance to stay up. Their fans are a nice bunch.

Gatesheads Manager Mike Williamson is certainly one to keep an eye on, he's been in the job since June 2019 and has an impressive 47.7% win rate.

Gateshead have had a remarkable turnaround in form the last 2 months. It started when they got Danny Elliott in on loan in January, then he signed ofr Scunthorpeand they signed Marcus Dinanga who has been scoring for fun. 2 strikers who never really made it here.

They are excellent at recruiting local talent from Non League and Academies, something we don't seem to bother with. Though now we have removed the Data manager perhaps we will.

Langstaff is incredible, drifting around local non league until Williamson got a hold of him and he took off from about a third of te way through last season. Also Scott who went to Notts County with him. They are much better at developing players than we are.

Off to Wembley soon as well for trophy Final, good to see some success coming to the North East.

200000 population Gateshead.
Strange how the majority would rather support a team from a different town/city.
Same problem for Salford fulla man utd fans.

thing is gateshead are non league and have been since i was a kid. if you want to watch league football locally what choice have you got. salford are a blown up lower non league side and fans have got their own league club before they got some success. most people are fans of clubs for life and not change clubs without good reasons for doing so and are only interested in clubs at certain levels.

Mr Accrington, spot on. A smaller lower league team tends to build a fan base over time. If by injecting cash you boost a team from the Evo Stik league like Salford or a Forest Green into the FL you still need a few years to build up the fan base. If Gateshead get into the FL and start to get a little bit of success, there is every reason for them to start to pull in reasonable crowds

Help if they had a ground, the Gateshead stadium is hardly conducive to creating an atmosphere.

Gateshead have every right to be a Football league side - i know their ground is a bit dodgy with the running track but it is multi purpose and not just technically theirs. Still its one of the better stadiums at that level. Williamson deserves all credit too. Giving chances to the likes of Scott and Langstaff. Id love for them and York to be back in the league - the more north / NE clubs the better.
But like stated should they get a bit further up i guarantee there would pull bigger crowds. I know alot of guys up that way support both but tend to favour the toon.

Pools could do with taking a leaf out of their recruitment though as currently its being bang on.

multi purpose stadiums seem more popular in other countries for some reason but have never caught on here. the biggest problem at the old wembley was the dog track around and vicarage road was another where you felt distanced from the action.

The lad who gives me inside info & is usually bang on,said Pools interviewed him & were very impressed.
Unfortunately we plumped for Hartley cos of his 'experience'.
