Does anyone know what his job is

watching the Newcastle game and the M. U manager giving him real grief for any and all decisions the ref makes. I know he is the reserve official on the day but have seen times when the 4th Official tells the ref what to do. I find his position very strange.

I suppose they’re another set of eyes just like the linesmen.

did the job once but never again. you just seem a buffer between the benches and the 3 officials on the pitch and you get the shit and they more or less get an easy ride. need a rhino hide skin for the job that i never had prefering a row and a quick reply than being the peacekeeper.
