How come a player can spend an entire season in the doghouse yet the arrival of a new manager transforms him into a battling defender….sign of a good mager?

I know, can you imagine what he could do with Lacey too, as he's a decent National League defender. If he ever returns. Just hope also he can work his magic on Paterson when he returns next season, as Hartley doesn't use him for Cove.

just like in the real world where you work well for a good boss but go through the motions for one you consider bad.

Murray was interviewed on the OS after the game. Says he picked up an injury in pre-season, only played 45 minutes of one pre-season game and wasn't fit when the season started. Says he did a lot of work on his fitness while he was out of the side and feels he's a lot closer to where he needs to be now that he's back in.

For that matter the whole side looks fitter and stronger since Askey came in - hard game yesterday and only 1 sub used.

No match interview with any of the management team on the OS, Sweeney has done the last couple, they must be camera shy ?

Makes one wonder how many other players have been wasted/ spoilt by Hartley and Curle - and how many have left who shouldn't have? But this is ALL down to the chairman and I don't care what he says about lessons being learnt - he won't be believed again (Promotion budget, marquee signings, blah bloody blah)

can see all that being right. no player could have actually been as bad as he was earlier in the season who had played pro football anywhere before.

You'd be surprised what lack of instructions/management and poor fitness can do to a player.

People say he is a bit slow but I suppose he is a "too good to hurry mint".

Odds on he's beating Hartley and Dolan in the sprints ;)

I thought when Curle arrived it would have improved the defence including Murray Curie himself being a former defender but it never happened.

Turns out Curle was apparently on another planet ….seemed a good idea at the time but he seemed foggy, unclear and a bit vague ….. unable to take control of the ship and get it back on course.

to be fair to him he had to suffer only one central defender being available for a few games and using ferguson as one of them. then he panicked a bit bringing in hartley and dolan to play there. brought a couple of young players in who were an improvement but dropped our best defensive midfielder sylla to try and make it worse.
