Wasn’t he offered it once before and knocked it back, if he took the job it would put him in the firing line for the sack, Singh sacked his mate Hignett, he would have no qualms about sacking Sweeney and Sweeney knows that if he failed as the manager.

Get him in the team. He is only one year older than our new "striker".

For me it's just a case of enjoying what we have for now as it might not be around for much longer

I had a phone conversation with someone yesterday morning about Pools and frankly Kev, I am serious…..
Curle would be a brilliant manager managing a team of clones of himself , but I feel he’s on a different level to everyone else including the players.
I’d be happy to be proved wrong, but……?

if not him then someone else with current coaching ability who lives and breathes pools. we do not need a manager but a no nonsence coach who can organise and get the best out of what is available. bates was certainly not everyones cup of tea, but if he had been given the job a month earlier we might have not gone down last time. its not a long term appointment needed but someone able to do the job till may. if we go down we go down, but just letting the situation drag on without doing anything is no answer.

What Pools need is a manager who knows what he is doing at this level and NL level.... a former player (not specifically a Pools player) who the players will respect too.

we need someone with grit and who doesnt take any shite - someone who has decent tactical ability and knows more than hoofball.

sometimes up and coming managers are the ones - just look at the likes of Howe and Arteta

clubs need to fet a bit braver in their appointments especially when you see neil warnock is back in the game yet again. top clubs is nearly always a foreign manager and a guy doing well at a lower non league club without a chequebook will rarely get the chance of improving himself. mind you its not all club owners to blame its fans in the world of instant success with little time for a manager to make a mistake.

Dave Challinor fits what you want perfectly.
Taken to the EFL like a duck to water with Pools n Stockport. Expect him to be a Championship Manager in the not to distant future.
Calm down Snowy.
I know hes gone.

i always said after DC got us promoted he would one day end up in the Championship. Hell the way Stockport are going it may well be them he takes ...

but id imagine someone like Bolton or Blackpool ... and depending if any of the other North West clubs say in 5 years time make it there... thought Salford would have been up there by now tbh.

I was waiting for someone tell me I was mad for considering it….funnily enough out for lunch today and someone explained to me quite logically why he’d never be manager, the penny dropped, but would like to see it happen …Ah well.

Imagine Sweeney has took more wages out of Pools than any other employee.
Hes not stupid for keeping well away from the so called No. 1 job at Pools.

Thing is Kev, if you’re settled in your role and take the managers job, security goes out of the window, what’s the average tenure for most managers ……2 years? Then you’re looking for another job.
Trouble with being a manager is the players, it’s your life in their hands, to quote a TV shown from the past.
