According to The Mail Pools are about to sign a free agent player who has been training with them for a week. No name given. I know some folks on here know stuff, so I was wondering if anyone knows who he is?

That would be another Theo Robinson. Hope you're right and it is a load of rubbish. Hoping for a battle hardened Centre Half.

Ive heard from multiple sources and one who often doesnt get things wrong (including whos playing before the team sheets out).... that it is Leon Clarke 38 year old man... like come on... are we that desperate .... his free agent transfers have been shite so far you would think he has learned his lesson ffs !

this man will offer nothing - he is the wrong wrong side of 35 and tbh i thought he had retired ages ago.

and it cant be hard for someone to look good training with us then if this is the calibre of player we are getting still

id like to think hes still after a CM - a propa decent ball playing CM who can ruffle some feathers and be amongst it

If we sign someone or not I cant help thinking Pools wage bill must horrendous. Thinking about deadwood who we wont see in a Pools shirt again but will have to be paid. Niang, Murray, Hastie, McDonald, Lacey. Murray and Hastie allegedly on big wages. Do we still have to pay the injured Walsall CH (forgot name) cos he was on loan till end of season even though he cant play? I know Raj has been accused of penny pinching but recently this has not been the case.

Well that must be in the top ten most depressing posts I have ever read on here. Not shooting the messenger, by the way.

behave Poolie1 surely did 10 a day never mind by subtle reality check....

but tbh though... we are fighting a relegation battle and we are looking at 38 year old strikers

there is still some half decent defenders on the free agent list last time i checked - id rather have cover there than him...

could be wrong though... it may well be another that the source doesnt know about

i suppose we shall see

He was playing for Bristol Rovers last season but over his career has averaged a goal every three games.

Clarke played 11games for Shrewsbury in 20-21 and 10 games for Bristol Rovers in 21-22 seasons. Doesn’t exactly excite you in fact quite the opposite.

if homes under the hammer comes to hartlepool any day soon you know who our next striker will be. think clarke is an improvement on robinson though but possibly in the same way a blind surgeon is better than one with no medical training.

I think if we sign Clarke it’s to cover for Jack Hamilton. He seems to be the loan thats been sacrificed for the other 5. If he can win headers as well as hold up the ball then he’ll be an improvement

wish pools had signed kevin ellison when he was only 38. he would have been a fans favourite by winding up everybody from the opposition side including their fans. a hated player who we have been missing for years.

To be fair, the government is doing everything it can to encourage the semi-retired back into the workforce.

If he wasn’t good enough for Arbroath what does that tell you. Let’s be honest if he went up there on trial he must be desperate.
