In a Mail article, Hartley says he is very close to bringing in another player but no name mentioned. Wondering if any of our "in the know" Bunkerites have heard anything. In recent weeks new signings have been mentioned on here prior to any official announcement. Just wondering.

Wonder if it'll be someone we've actually heard of? The standard of Hartley's signings so far have been poor to say the least.

Scott Banks on loan from Palace, Coburn from Boro, a Leeds midfielder and Leigh Griffiths from Celtic have all been muted recently but there seems to be a lot of stalling.

derwent..."Scott Banks on loan from Palace"

..another big club interested..sparky and the sleeping giant no less...looks like we may have lost out on that one.. sadx

"Hartlepool, who were the first club interested in the wide player, are now probably powerless to stop Banks from heading to Bradford as the size difference of the two outfits is huge.If it’s a battle between just Bradford and Hartlepool for Banks, then the chances are that he’s going to choose the former."

We lost 0-5 at home to Torquay but it didn't mean every player we had was poor. Sometimes these things happen, see how we are doing after 10 games and hopefully a few more signings.

Sounds like a big strong lad. He played a lot for Oldham before he went to Aldershot. Lets hope he'll help stop opposing players waltz through our midfield and set up a goal like that Walsall lad did last Saturday.

Are you for real? What do you mean by someone you’ve heard of….how about Ricky Gervais?

This from my Oldham supporting mate re Sylla.

Didn't shirk a tackle, likes to get forward, but not great at reading the game.
Described him as "the best of a bad bunch in that position" for Oldham
If Hartley can motivate him, he might have a chance. Is he going to replace Featherstone, though ?

What ive heard/read so far on the new guy.

He won player of the year last year at Aldershot (havnt fact checked this im sure Poolie1 will)

Highly rated by the shots fans who always knew he was bound for League football again. Seemed to be on the cards for weeks some recall. Noticeably they have also lost their best player to Carlisle too by all accounts.

Aldershot fans seem worried they have lost their midfield maestro and quote us as being a Strong Northern Footballing Club (i like that)

Bit shocked by this arrival and not overwhelmed by it either - seems the passage of old is creeping back in. Signing alot of none league no bodies - the lad might turn out to be the League equivalent of Makelele who knows, but i was expecting someone from the league perhaps considering the 2 outgoing players we just actually sold for cash. He has played for Oldham at this level before so hopefully knows whats demanded of him at this level.

I know he wont push Feaths out the team but i can fully see why PH has went down the route of bringing in more Midfield enforcers - him and Sena might turn into the midfield we have lacked for years. Fully hope we have another striker / winger in before Saturday now. Rumours are there is a second player incoming.

https://www.theshots.co.uk/aldershot-to ... ased-list/

..has never played in the "dog and duck" leagues so there's a bonus for some of the more sophisticated types on here...and according to my source mo doesn't use cotton buds or womens hairspray either so another bonus there too....

Wonder if Hartley is planning on a 4-2-3-1 formation with Sena and Sylla as the holding midfield 2. It would allow Sterry and Fergie to bomb forward and the front 4 to not have to worry too much about what was behind them.

One year deal. So if he does great for us it'll be another dose of 'will he, won't he sign a contract extension' for Pools next summer. Given the way those have been working out recently I'd rather we'd taken a chance on a 2 year contract.

He looks like a hard nut, which Pools have needed since Mafuta was let go (and I'll wager signing him has nothing to do with the role Nicky Featherstone plays for Pools).

28 years old so should be trying to impress as he will be looking to secure his future either at Pools or elsewhere.

true on both counts. surely if he is rated he is worth a 2 year contract. i,d hate to miss out on someone who sounds decent to a club who offered him 2 years on similar or less money.think nowadays the length of contract offered is more important to a player once they reach their late 20,s than a few quid extra.

We might have added a one year option. That would make sense.

He does not have to read the game, most players can,t.
Just win the ball and give it to someone else.

Before one game Cloughie put a ball on a towel on the dressing room floor and said that’s a ball now go out and get it or some thing along those lines.
