The follow up question is:

How much tax do they pay?

No doubt as little as possible through various ways of avoiding it.

Just ridiculous salaries and we have no choice but to pay for a licence.

Mr Beast routinely gives one of his mates a million dollars for doing some stupid challenge (kids always watching some crap on youtube)

These really aren't big wages in the current entertainment landscape.

Beg your pardon, they are when you don’t get the option of not paying the bloody BBC not to watch them.
Shearer still getting paid….? Why not paint a smiley face on a traffic cone instead, it would have more personality by a country mile.

Whether you think they are worth their wages, is an entirely different argument but when you go for a job you expect a salary which is inline with your profession.

Any organisation with the backing of law who can demand money from me to pay it’s employees, is too much to pay. Till I get a choice, a penny a year’s too much for them.
If you’re happy getting ripped off you can pay my licence fee too, I won’t complain.

These are salaries of those employed directly on a contract with the BBC, so they are paying PAYE and NI on these amounts. What they don't have to reveal is the amount paid to service companies such as 'Clair Balding Presenting Services Ltd' and whatever other mechanisms these well heeled folks have to avoid tax as an employee and instead pay themselves dividends. As for Huw Edwards bleating on (some time ago) about the mental health strain of presenting the news.. there are plenty of us that could read an autocue for significantly less.

soon we will reach a state where if you have never gone on about your mental health state you,ll be diagnosed as having a mental health issue. these people are a disgrace to those who have had proper mental health ssues or the ones that are suffering properly at the moment.

Send the Welsh windbag over to Ukraine for a month, he’ll find it a lot more stressful being in the news than waffling in his comfy studio setting, the big girl’s blouse.
