A truly baffling decision from two former centre backs. Did they think Liddle could go on forever? Or that Odusina wouldn't be tempted by interest from teams playing at a higher level?

was a god aweful dog shite decision when they let him walk and its looking to be an even worse one now - im sorry but ill take the judgement of a certain former premier league manager over what Spike seemed to of thought of him - glad the boneheads are gone purely on decisions like this. He would walk into this team just now

Hendrie is predominately a right back (where he has played all his games for Bradford) who can when required cover central defence. At Pools he was behind Sterrie and Ogle at fullback and three players in central defence and was not getting his game and obviously as he was a decent player wanted to be away. As a result we allowed him to go to Bradford which has worked out well for him. I can’t remember anybody worried about it when he left. Hindsight eh!

Yes and no. Hendry got a fair bit of game time under Challinor (10 starts) and Tony Sweeney (3 starts). He only started one game for Lee and Nelson - against Charlton. He was very good that night but it was those two who decided he was surplus to requirements.

He's more of an out-and-out defender than attacking wing back, which is the only reason Ogle got the nod ahead of him as right back cover.

I’m not saying that Hendrie was not a decent player but at that time we had a surplus in his position and sadly he was never going to oust them. I believe most of his starts were in the early cup rounds.

Nope, 10 league starts, 9 for DC. It's all on In The Mad Crowd.

Hendrie was a very good centre back.
Letting him go was a ridiculous decision, but not the only one.

Through his career he has been a fullback and even at Pools he rarely played as a centre back. I agree he was a decent player but sadly for him we had better and he wanted away.

Agree100%…just another figure in the background who never broke through. Hardly a star performer. History now, move on.

yes, he is just the same as francis angol was but for me not as good. decent players who had to play second fiddle to better ones at pools. think if either could play in other positions than they did there is a possibility they were not shown the door. then was hendrie like gav and could not wait to get out of the place.

If my memory is correct, he was only on the bench a few times in the few weeks leading up to the Charlton game - for which he was made captain. Strange indeed, & he was released 6 days after that game

exactly. i imagine if he had stayed at pools playing as he did and the club had given him a new 2 year contract some would rightfully be very underwhelmed.

look..allowing hendrie gav cullen and zfa to leave before the season ended ...while at the same time planning to offer new contracts to crocks like morris and cook...well...these are just ridiculous hopeless bonehead decisions...big part of why the boneheaded duo had to go imo..clueless...bradford and grimsby laughing their cks off at us...but its over now..no more of this crap to look forward to thank god.....

It was surreal, watching players slip quietly away on the tide of indifference, yet hanging onto the ‘wounded in inaction’

again its a case of two wrongs not making a right. gav wanted out, zfa was always second choice like hendrie and cullen seemed in fans eyes as a better player once he moved out than he actually was when he played. it may have been shit how the season ended but the club achieved what they wanted back in august. getting rid of these would have happened at the end of the season anyway and them leaving should have had no affect on the poor attitudes shown later on from the rest.
