May have won the PJ Trophy but are imploding in the league, currently 3-0 down at Portsmouth and looking at their 3rd league defeat on the trot.

Funny how that happens, wonder if the back to grind in the league after the euphoria of Wembley is a bit of a downer to some hyped up players, forgetting that the league is the real prize every time.

Considering there are only two leagues involved in the papa john's and 50% 0f the semis and the final came from our league and the fact that we played five league one sides without being beaten in ninety minutes by any of them, winning two and drawing three, it must point to there being very little difference between the leagues.
Rotherham were given two good games by us and Sutton. We both had chances to beat them and Sutton were leading up to the sixth minute of time added on in the final, whereas against us Rotherham were lucky not to have at least one player sent off.
In the FA cup we drew with Wycombe at home and beat them away, then beat Lincoln. Only Crewe managed to beat us in the Carabao Cup and we battered them that night.
So with nine encounters with league one sides we won four, drew four and lost one. All over ninety minutes in league terms we would have accrued sixteen points from nine games.......very creditable.
If Rotherham only manage the play offs they could meet Sheff Wed and Sunderland and we are well aware of the big club v the little club in the league one play off final.
Rotherham fans are wringing their hands at the prospect, whereas we would be ecstatic in that position.
Funny old game.

Fulham and FGR have stumbled late on too after looking like they were going to walk their divisions.

Only Stockport are marching on serenely - 9 wins on the spin, 8 points clear of Wrexham and only 8 games left. Whatever their chairman paid to make Challinor turn his coat has been worth every penny. Hope we get them up at the Vic early doors next season - nailed on sell out and a hell of an atmosphere!

Every team hits a sticky patch, even Stockport were shit at the start of the season.
It happens to every team, there’s no rhyme or reason to it, it just happens.
Mind you, some ‘fans’ actually believe their team should WIN every game, meanwhile in the real world.....

They've only lost once in the league since 'DC' came in. Funny how their fixtures have worked out though - they haven't got any easy games left against teams in the bottom half of the table and have still to go to Grimsby (on Saturday) Chesterfield and Wrexham.

Will be worth a good chuckle if they get beat against Grimsby and Holohan is one of the scorers - a player who was allegedly joining his old boss at County right up till he signed for someone else

this would be fantastic - can see it happening aswell - chesterfield and Wrexham have it all to play for and Wrexham wolloped them in the cup aswell a few weeks back - they are beatable.

plus i always remember Salford coming up with all their cash and expecting to walk through L2 aswell - look how thats going for them. Cant buy this league within a season im afraid. Crewe back in the mix aswell and im sure they will bring a decent team down with them,

I suppose they’re going to come up and expect further promotion as a mere trifle…it may be a Raspberry trifle if they have the wrong attitude.

Amazed at their slump, 2 months ago them & Wigan were strolling it, now it's just the 'Pie Eaters' who are doing so. Still think they'll get promoted, even if it's via the play-offs.

Recently their attendances when in the championship are only marginally higher than those in league one and the increase is probably down to increased away support.
They can't sustain championship football and their wage bill will probably be higher as players expect higher wages as championship players.
Clubs like Rotherham need more revenue or a sugar daddy to sustain championship football, hence the yo yo effect.
No matter what league a club is in, it's fans don't relish watching them getting beat week in and week out.

Trouble with sugar daddies coming in, is they nearly all get sick eventually and fade away when the initial cheering stops and they’re not very resilient when the hard times pop up and the criticism is flying…… trouble is, once you’ve experienced having a sugar daddy, you get complacent and expect another one to arrive on cue, that’s where it all goes wrong.

I should have clarified sugar daddies with the club in their heart, like Gibson at Boro.
Or a diehard Poolie with a massive lottery win but our fans would probably sicken him as well.

Y’know, that’s a recurring theme every time the fantasy scenario comes up with a bumper win, would you buy Pools and for years I thought spot on. Then you begin to think about it and you realise it could be a bit annoying and stressful.
You’d have to move out of town as various gobshites would endlessly accost you to give you their ‘advice’ on what you need to do…..as you notice their slippers are on the wrong feet and that shell suits are history.
Then there’s the people who have the financial acumen of a dockyard omelette criticising you for not spending your money how they say you should.
Every time things hit the mildest of seas the mob will be baying for you to call it a day…..
Nah, the Donkey Sanctuary can have a donkey spa the size of the Crystal Palace built instead.

Yeah I agree, Snowy. Like you I've always said I'd buy Pools but you would experience what you describe. I'd probably give a bit to the youth development side and leave it at that.
I might also support West Rugby a bit as well as I've watched them a lot in the past and the expectations probably wouldn't be as fierce. They are interested in attracting youngsters to the game and developing them.

pre internet days if i was a millionaire i,d have loved to takeover pools but not in todays climate. whatever you and others thought was right there would be more than one on your back or in your face at every opportunity. do not think you can be transparent either like the old days with fans. too many secrets around which i could not cope with.

How did we cope when we only had the Footy Mail, Mail and Echo and later the Monkey Biz for info….. the backbiting and intrigue that is the norm on social media is a conspiracy theorists playpen and where pub gossip becomes fact.

Banana skin duly delivered by Gav Holohan. The only pity is Wrexham couldn't beat Solihull Moors to cash in fully. Moors go to the Stockport Galacticos on Easter Monday - squeaky bum time beckons. Does your lad reckon home form will see them through Mr. Accy?
