This is a remarkable gesture - not many clubs have done so publicly yet (i presume alot have done without wanting the media attention etc)...

Im going to Just presume/suspect there is a war chest of cash for the summer now and the funds to bring in players of very good quality should now not be out of our reach so to speak. Imagine this article getting brought up time and time again in the summer should we not recruit the next Jamie Vardy.

An amazing gesture, from a club not flush with cash. I wonder if some of the big boys now get in on the act.

They’re above that sort of thing now, they’re Premiership toffs with top hats, monocle, silver cane and swirling cape and dining at the Hotel Swanko Del Posh.....in Byker....!

While I have not always agreed with some of Raj's actions in the past I have nothing but sincerest admiration for his gesture and hope that other companies and sponsors as well as supporters can join in this extremely worthy cause. I remember a number of years ago after top clubs refused Pools had a collection for Romanian orphans and sent a lorry load of relief goods collected at the ground out to help. Well done Pools you have put the HEART into Hartlepool.

something like a certain percentage of matchday revenue throught the premier league on teams next home game would come in handy.

Under the Soviet Union many Russians moved to the east of Ukraine and probably represent a majority in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
Under the British Empire, Protestants moved to the north of a Catholic country, Ireland and a subsequent democratic vote resulted in Northern Ireland being split away politically from Ireland.
The Ukrainians could learn from we democratic loving westerners and give a democratic vote to the inhabitants of their eastern statelets and abide by their decision as we did in the 2014 Scottish independence vote. The reason that this has not happened already is that the result would not be to the liking of Ukraine so Putin has recognised the states Donetsk and Luhansk as independent of Ukraine. It is the only thing Putin has got right imo!

A ‘chat’ with you.... sctatchinghead ? If it’s anything like your posts on here it’ll be like ‘debating’ with a radiator, pointless and puerile.

They live in a bubble...... Putins actions over Ukraine are the biggest mistake since ‘Club Spokesman’ ordered a thousand ’In Challinor we Trust’ T shirts two days before he left.
He has cocked up on a monumental scale and throws provocative statements about like confetti.... his image has gone from hard man to incompetent, can’t take him seriously.

the problem is that we do not know as we cannot trust anything that comes out of russia apart from propaganda, and over the last couple of years we know you cannot trust ours to tell the whole truth either.

The thought of Corbyn et al in power is frightening in itself.
Putin is an evil madman in charge of an evil regime and is capable of anything.
He has to be taken out.
I feel a sense of shame that the so called civilised and democratic free World is standing by and watching this happening. It is mass murder nothing more and nothing less.

Thing is though let's say we get involved, then what? Putin's Chinese mates probobly start throwing their weight about. Only way things are going to be solved is if this guy is taken out. I'm surprised no one has tried to get at his family supposedly hiding in Switzerland.

The thing is we are involved. We're trying to cripple his country and bring it to it's knees without the proverbial shot being fired. How long do you think he'll accept that without retaliation in the only way he knows how.
As for the Chinese, I'm not quite sure they are as close to him as he thinks they are.

Cripple the country really means crippling the ordinary russian on the streets who have less say in matters as even we do. They never started the war but will be the ones that will suffer.

The only way this ends at all well is if Putin gets deposed/assassinated by someone in his close circle. So the strategy of causing pain to the elite via sanctions seems to be applying pressure. Add to that the military losses and lack of support for a war in Ukraine and the pressure is growing. As ever ordinary Russians are in the dark and are just collateral damage. Whilst China and Russia may be ideologically close I should think that China would not welcome western sanctions and the switch of production away from China.

I feel sorry for the ordinary guy in the street in Russia but the only answer is to do what all the other countries did within the old soviet bloc and that is to reject communism Russian style. Easier said than done I know but the hierarchy in Russia are super rich capitalists, whilst the ordinary Joe has to follow Kremlin ideals or else.
Nobody is allowed to offer an alternative under pain of prosecution. What a wonderful way to live eh????
Whatever sanctions are imposed on the Russians, Putin won't go without his marmite on toast for breakfast.
The way he is indiscriminately murdering and/or starving children in Ukraine he obviously doesn't prioritise kids for protection so he'll let them take the brunt of any sanctions long before said sanctions bite into him.
He is a cancer that needs ripping out.

.

A bit like being on a fragrant message board were everyone agrees and everything is ‘luverly’ and smells of roses..leaven though the ground’s been condemned, there’s no grass on the pitch, the owners have legged it, the players are all on something from Harpic to heroin, scrap thieves have stolen the floodlights but the leccy bill hasn’t been paid anyway so there’s no power, the pitch was built on a sink hole and bottom of the league with two games to go with no points yet....just another day at Putin Wednesday FC.

Well it took the russians well over 100 years to get rid of their first cancer, the czarist regime after the french got rid of theirs. Subdue their own people so much so i suppose you cannot expect them to turn over putin any time soon.
