Here's my report from tonight's League Two clash between Hartlepool United and Barrow where goals from Luke Molyneux (x2) and Omar Bogle helped Hartlepool to a 3-1 win.

I've seen Rooney's goal. I bet it was the only thing he did all game. Classic John Rooney. Gets all the plaudits for being a bang average player with a cracking shot on him.

Rooney put a good shift in, and I thought Barrow were a very hard working side to be fair

correct. a one trick pony who hardly got a mention before or after his goal. a luxury player that may have done ok with you at the top but not one for a struggling side. because of that goal he,ll end up in the team of the week.

Now call me an awkward sod, but that sort of goal is what I’d class as an eye catching novelty goal, entertaining but......... sctatchinghead
It provokes more grins than cheers, ......but it counts.

hes an annoying little turd is Rooney - Sent off against us last season - scores that little audacious effort then barks at his team mates for 90 mins. I can see why DC let him go ! Thinks hes better than he is - couldnt lace Feaths boots

plus i have always got the impression of him as if you were a kid asking for autographs you,d be wary of asking him. heard also he does not like to give interviews.

When the rumours started about Stockport's next manager I had a nosey on one of their forums. Duncan Ferguson was touted at one point. One fan's reaction was:
"He'd be able to control the egos in our dressing room. You could imagine him offering to take Rooney outside."
Yes, please. Tickets available from...
It would appear that (at least) some of the Stockport fans weren't over enamoured with him either.

Agree with that. He was one of their better players on the day, which isn't saying a great deal. They should have had a couple more bookings to go with the 3 they did get.

Agree there Mr Hogans, they were a physical side and the referee was lenient with them on a number of occasions. I said at half time the game wouldn’t finish with 22 players on the pitch but he had other idea’s. They were certainly motivated for their team though.

Three excellent goals. I am surprised that Bogle has not been given more credit for the cool way he passed the ball into the vacant side of the net. Hopefully he is the sort of goal poacher we have lacked for quite some time.

Bogle took his goal well. Done well with his hold up more he got into the game. Get the ball into the box for him and he will get those goals. Hes a bully in the box which we need now.

he certainly finished the game far better than he started it. looks like he is, a player short of time on the pitch. for me i think he,ll get better longer he gets minutes in.

Little bit on him in the fail today. Even himself stating hes not 100% there yet and still some match sharpness to go. I like that about a player being honest and knowing he still isnt where he should be. Good that we know there is still the best to come from him and his fitness will get better which i thought was one of his let downs the ofher night. His pressing was slow and movement off the ball once he held it up and passed it off wasnt as sharp as you would expect from a player of his standard. Be good to see him today and see how he gets on against a better team.

Fitness is a problem if we are spending most of the time defending and hope to score with quick breakaways. Bogle will be most effective spending time sniffing around in the opposition box when we are doing plenty of attacking.

Bogle did improve as the match wore on and once he’s match fit you’ll not get him off the ball. Obviously he’s not up to spec yet, but when he gets used to his new team mates and his confidence increases he could be a useful asset.
