I’ve got a team to get behind in the FA Cup now. The good feeling generated by this encounter is heartwarming. Funny we get more goodwill from Palace than from elsewhere.
Wonder if they have any players doing nothing they’d loan out
Kember, Canon and Swindlehurst my be just a touch past it though.

Definitely. Great year to lift the Pappa Johns Trophy and say we only went out of the FA Cup to the eventual winners!

well at least it does keep my interest in the cup alive. normally i have lost interest by the end of the first round when pools get knocked out. given a reasonable set of draws palace could easily be a team that gets into the final where they are not going down or get a euro place either.

Funnily enough Jim Cannon is still connected with the Club, works as an Ambassador ( whatever that means). Let’s hope when we next look to loan out some of our very good Academy players, your team benefits

Ambassador...? Probably means he hands out the Ferraro Roacher’s at the Ambassadors residence....according to the advert.
I prefer the ‘Meet & Greet’ title myself.

Very true. Let’s see how a Championship club(Stoke) cope with them.

When we beat Palace in 78 (3rd round) we got Ipswich in the 4th and they went on to win it, so it could repeat itself.

It has taken a long time and mega money. Unfortunately nothing is certain and a relegation could be round the corner. I hate many things about PL, not least going to many games hoping you don’t get a tonking.
We have just spent £60m on new academy in an attempt to attract the youngsters from South London, who have always been taken by the “big” clubs. It is ridiculous money but if we produce another Wan-Bissaka, who Utd paid £50m for, it pays for itself. Anyone interested here is a brief video of it. Hope the link works

A great day out and while result was never in doubt after the first half hour the team did not let us down and did much better n the second half. Respect to Palace for the way they have treated us and their generosity towards the Gemma Lee charity. t brings back the feeling of pride and the football family respect. We should be looking if they have any u23s to loan out n the future by way of saying thank you.

At the present time, in your Division we have Jake O’Brien at Swindon. Personally I think he could make the grade at PL level. We also have Rob Street at Newport. He won’t make it to PL but will be good EFL player.
The way your team performed and their fitness levels, would not be surprised if some of our youngsters make their way to the NE

How good is it to have opposition fans airing their views without needless aggression towards our clubthey are welcome any time unlike the buffoon from Stockport.

I’m really impressed by Palace and their fans. So nice to have people who prefer chat to wind up and admire their club’s attitude. Brightened my weekend up that.

Stockport are 4 divisions below Palace yet the way they go on you'd think they're fighting for a Champions League spot. Shambles of a fan base.

Nothing but admiration & respect for Palace, both club & fans, a proper community club with fabulous local support, a breath of fresh air & a shining example of what a ‘proper’ football club should be… had a few beers at the excellent Boxpark venue in East Croydon before the game, great banter with some of the nicest ‘rival’ supporters I’ve ever met, like others have already declared, I now have a new favourite PL team to follow COYP, 4700 more Eagles to add to your ranks

there is no reason why it should never be like that. its just fate and geography really why we support this club or that one. lots of fans that spoil it though are the ones who follow or not necessary attend games of the team who are the top.

do not judge a whole fan base on a few tools on messageboards. same as the bunker, they are only a very small percentage of their fans. some decent lads at stockport but even my lad will admit that they have a good percentage of them he,d rather ignore than speak to.

Well at least one Palace player has won something this year. Kouyate played for Senegal last night, although you wouldn’t know it according to PL Instagram. Unfortunately this is what clubs like us have to put up with. Small price to pay I suppose

Kember, Canon and Swindlehurst my be just a touch past it though.

Great Post!
I first posted on this forum as a Palace fan, the day the draw was announced. There was some doom and gloom at the time on this forum as to what a disappointing draw it was. Despite the result I hope you Monkey Hangers will now have a different opinion of the Palace.

I think most football supporters have other teams results that they look out for. As a lad I always looked for Hartlepool. Why ? I have no idea but it's something I always did. Oh and Exeter as they were the first Palace opponents I saw as a 5 year old back in 1958. :o

I will continue to track your results and watch the Quest (Freeview) highlights in anticipation of your progress. Let's hope it is progress !

Good luck for the rest of the season to all of you but particularly to Gemma & Graeme. After all, football is just a game, Gemma's case brings it all back, that there are one or two more important issues in life !

I think most of us at first thought that's a bad draw for us when it first happened, mainly because we knew we were probobly out and it wasn't the massive pay day we probobly needed. I don't think any offence was meant towards palace as it turned out it was probobly as good a draw as we could of got away, a proper club with proper fans, who wants to go and watch us us lose 8 nil at a man city anyway? I thought 2nd half we put up a great display and showed our team has a bit of class too, yes palace missed a few but you got to expect a team with such quality will cause us problems.

Yep totally agree. Didn't mean any disrespect to Hartlepool by the "bad draw". You had every right to hope for a bigger name out of the hat.

I was really frustrated, come the day, as having got tickets early doors, I then had to isolate over the weekend and therefore unable to go. Gutted to miss seeing one of my "other" teams in action and of course the support that you bought to the game.
