Has signed for Oldham till the end of the season, will surely add to their problems if his performances at Pools is anything to go by,

That was an eye opener, if that’s the owner’s idea of running a club, they’re down already. I wouldn’t let him run the spin cycle on our washer.

Meanwhile eighth tier Warrington Rylands sign long term oldham captain and ex South Africa International Dean Furman.

The EFL is going to look a lot different in 10 years time than it does now, and I cant say for the better.

oldham manager gave the same reasons for signing him as DC did nearly word for word. if s the only thing he has to offer their must be loads of sunday league players today thinking they have really missed out.

Football is becoming the playground of hobby chairman with too much money, fan base and location are irrelevant, they just wanna prove they can succeed in making a league team from dross, like they do in their business life.

making a long term success at some of these teams will be harder than selling heaters in equatorial countries.

Thing is, he scored regularly for Chesterfield and got a few for Wrexham but never looked like scoring for us. As Challinor said "Every time the ball goes to him it ends up with the opposition". I wonder what happened?

Add to that how many times he lost his head over stupid things (mostly because of his own mistakes). Actually was better for us defending corners than out else.

Cant see him grabbing goals in that rubbish low confidence team either

more than likely - unless he fires in some goals to win them games he may just get an extension with them regardless of their league status.

there will always be a team in the NL on the cusp of something who will gamble with a player like Mike, purely down to the fact hes played in L1/L2 - how and why is beggars belief but these sorts of players make a career from it

yep happens all the time.

Pools had Godwin Antwi on loan from Liverpool many years ago i remember and one of the lads i was working with at the time had him at their club on trial and it seemed that because he had Liverpool on his CV he was touted as the next Toure.

Speaking of Toures, Gimme getting his move to League 2 last season hasn't worked out for him at all. He's only scored 2 goals in 35 appearances for Carlisle in L2 (he got 12 in 34 for us in the NL), went out on loan to Aldershot last October, played 3 games for them and got injured. Apparently he could be out for the rest of the season.

I had a look on TheCumbrians.net and this post about their transfer window caught my eye:
"Looks like an awful, desperate, last minute scattergun approach to bringing people in. Look who Hartlepool have brought in comparison to what we have."

anyone recently signed by carlise, barrow, oldham and scunthorpe would be classed as real panic signings if pools had brought them in.

Barrow got a canny win at Northampton the other night. They'll be fancying their chances on Tuesday, especially if they do well on Saturday.

I am reading that quote 2 ways. Do correct my interpretation as dont know the full story behind that post but:

1. are they implying they have brought in a load of shit and we have had a remarkable transfer window

2. or are they implying the comment towards us as being we have brought in the shite and they have had a good window ?

If its the latter then they are delusional !

also Barrow winning the other night could be there 5 minutes of madness so to speak in the league this season - every team has that 3 game winning streak and i hope they havnt hit theirs now with us to play tuesday - thankfully its a home tie and we may see some of the new fellas come out all guns blazing (i hope)

I personally never rated Toure, knew where the net was but often seemed very selfish and would miss passes. Skillfull yet very frustrating to watch.

ahh good stuff - see even rival fan bases are appreciating our little bit of business. Quality not quantity i think this time round.

Id be mega frustrated if i was them too - they are looming to be having a great escape style season if not careful. They also lost Clough arguably one of their best players. Scored at the Vic when we had them here start of season. If they not careful they will be the whipping boys next season

thats the worry as they looked dead and buried last season then about this time of year had a good run that made them safe.

they did and i think they,ll do just the same this season. not good though for barrow fans looking to the future if thats the way the club is run and the way it sees itself. recipe for a cock up in the near future if this does not come off one season. if they did go down i feel it would be harder for them to ever come back again than it would be for pools. hope both our cumbrian friends survive but not at the expense of pools though.

Hope Barrow stay up but Carlisle's travelling fans have been such obnoxious louts in recent seasons that a 5 year penance in the NL would do them good. Doubt they'd be so feisty on a wet Tuesday night in Solihull

Carlisle and Barrow will always be looking at the same players we will be. Look how many ex poolies are in their sides.

For that reason, they're better below us than with us.

our rain drenched neighbours are due a spell in the dungeon of football - only time will tell with them boys.

they seem to ride their luck and then have one miraculous season as to where they sit comfortable and push for a playoff spot.

i think it would do their fans the world of good - lovely trip to the dog and duck on a cold Tuesday night to battle it out infront of 6 drunks and the dog for survival - to only come away with nothing as the worst player on the pitch somehow bundles the ball home from a crappy set piece in injury time

Imagine the trauma of them playing Stockport in the Quicksand League next season.
It’s a straight run down the M6 for them as an added bonus.

forget dog and duck it sounds more like an away day at oldham where our dear lamented ex stinker, sorry striker, gets the winner.

Didn't Carlisle get relegated and immediately win the conference? Perhaps they can sign Jimmy Glass on loan again!
