But why did they send him back, the manager going should have been no influence surely?
That said, you never know though.

Apparently he said he wanted away they were trying to get him to stay for rest of the season.

Considering how "bad" Killip is we have surprisingly let in only 36 goals in 25 games, 7 of those in the 2 games Killip didn't play. Turner 15 in 8.5 games for Colchester.
If Killip could handle crosses he wouldn't be with us.

I suppose it could depend on the cover in front of you to an extent, as a good keeper with a poor defence will always be at a disadvantage.

We have bigger problems than Killip. The two conceded against Bristol were unlucky, and If not for those two we'd have 4 league clean sheets in a row.

if you do not score then any mistakes at the other end always get magnified.

to be fair to Killip he had a good game at Carlisle - he seen a hell of alot of the ball (i bet statistically if you looked at it he probably had more touches than most of their outfield players). He also saved some good shots too (which tbh was always a strong point of his).

Id like him in the team but as a backup or for league games. We need a more experienced leader in between the sticks at this level. So the lad from Newcastle is a no from me.

Turner is 22 and over six feet four, so not a kid and big enough if good enough. Should be able to handle crosses with his height.
I keep thinking getting Brad Young back on loan is maybe a possibility, if he is available that is. He's a big brute anorl.

I don’t get the hate for Killip. Last season his stats were excellent but I do agree he has gone backward with claiming crosses.

Compared to other areas it’s not a priority for me

I don't think anybody hates him as such. What people dislike or complain about is the fact that he remains rooted to his line when the better option is to come out and deal with a cross before it's headed past him.

22 year old GK is still classed as pretty young for that position on the pitch. Baring in mind most keepers dont see their better years till they are over 29/30. Yes there is exceptions to that rule... but they all ply their trade in the Prem and are worth a few pennies.

So did Scott Loach but everyone loved the guy!

That's fans for you, although I didn't love him as I don't love Killip but I don't hate either of them either.
Maybe because Loach was such a big presence that might have something to do with it.........who knows why people take to one person but not to another.

Ben Killip has seen off some mediocre No.2 keepers but might have actually learned something from the opportunity to play alongside Trevor Carson. If Pools can't aim high with a GK signing he'll probably end up retaining the shirt.

The trouble is, the likes of Belshaw at Bristol Rovers have put in displays that made all the difference against Pools this season. I honestly can't remember the last time Killip did that for us.

I didn’t get the rave reviews of Belshaw. Every save he made was due to poor finishing. Cullen literally passed it to him.

Cullen did well to get that on target, Trying to sort his feet out.

Carlisle GK kept them in the game - not many would of reacted to Fergusons incoming ball that he palmed onto the bar. Then the save at the end from Ogle wasnt anything special as there wasnt much pace on it but he still got there.

I think we may still see an incoming in the GK department before the end of the month - as Spike said there is players training with us.
just not sure if thats a solid No.2 to replace Mitchell or someone for Killip to fight for the No.1 shirt.

Killip is nowhere near as good as Loach.
Loach was sometimes poor at crosses, still better than Killip, but was a brilliant shot stopper.
There was plenty of games he kept us in it & won us points.
How many games can you sat that about Killip.
Plus his stats looked good last season
mainly because he was well protected by an excellent defence.

Arran Lee-Barratt?

Killip gives me the jitters but he's much better than some that we've had. Is he really that bad or is he just the current 'whipping-boy'?

Scott Loach's most notable attribute was not been as bad as Mitch Beeney.

I'd back him to stop most shots from distance but nearly every time a ball is swung into the box we are counting on a defensive header to get it clear. His reactions aren't exceptional either, so he generally gets nowhere near a shot or header from close range.

cannot ever remember using the words, if it had not been for killip we,d have been hammered today. every dog has his day but for some reason he has not read that. its only because pools are weak in other areas that he gets away with his displays. every game once the ball gets near the box i shit myself. wonder if some of our defenders feel the same.

its when he rolls the ball to a player 3 yards from their attackers (as the other night with Shelton) or tries to be cocky and take on their player that you just think, what are you doing... this is L2 not sunday league where a half assed out of shape CF wont either read you or get to you in time. Some of his shorter passes also worry me as Odusina sometimes panics and we end up out of possession from a routine goal kick. Shouldnt be happening at all. Dont see the teams at the top of the table doing it.

anyways its a day from Match day and still not a dicky bird has entered the fray. Yet we are down 3 players in a week.
