I hadn't heard about this, hope he pulls through. He was arguably the best defender we've ever had on the books.

A giant in defence and a talker and organiser to those around him on the pitch.
Such a bloody shame, but I don’t see him as a quitter.
Dunno who wrote the article but the sarcy digs did not amuse me.

66! Get well soon.

John was immense for Pools. He could frighten opposition fans as much as their forwards, but also a fine player with a lovely first touch. A class act. Nothing more needs saying.

A great professional and true Pools legend I believe after going in goal due to the keeper being injured he played in goal in the next game as well. Get well soon John we are all thinking of you.

Hope John pulls through, he really was an excellent player, and a great person to talk to, meet him and his dad in the Jackson's arms years ago what a great pair of people to have a pint with. I understand that he could also have been a professional boxer. A great strength of character, and personality.

The odour is there.... but whoever wrote it, the clever dick jibes were unnecessary.
