Played ok yesterday he was decent at holding the ball up.

I see elliott scored again for boston yesterday that gives him 15 so far this season he has pace and an eye for a goal and we get rid and sign femi and fondop who carnt hit a barn door.

Funny old game football.

like carver these goals have been scored 2 divisions lower than where pools are. surely with the un budgetted money the club have made from cup runs the fans deserve a less risky cheap signings. no one expects pools to splash out 6 figure transfer fees but we also cannot expect to do things on the cheap all the time.

A very good point well made.

Problem is unless you spend a six figure fee you will only get the likes of Carver.

He ran the line pretty well yesterday. Probably could and should have scored too.

You get no guarantees with a six figure fee or even a seven figure fee either.

therefore in the end once lids retires and our better players move on we,ll be shopping at chorley for replacements to give us more years of non league football. think its more about wages than transfer fees paid thats the problem.

Not sure how much Chesterfield paid for Tshmanga but it seems to have been worth every penny. We were supposedly in the hunt for him when he went to the Spireites.

A lot of the clubs around us in the table - particularly below us - are strengthening well. Albeit a fair chunk of loan signings but in the case of Stevenage in particular they are players with a bit of pedigree at our level.

Oldham also taken Sheff Weds hot prospect on today too. Still a bit of Jan left but hoping for at least another 2 or 3 additions for us.

all these young lads are classed as hot prospects and many end up quickly in lower non league.

How many of those six would you have kept, loanees apart, over which we have no control.

To be Honest there was only ever really Burey and Daly making the cut to keep in the team out of the lads who have went back.

and.. all is not lost on Burey we hope (seems we do have first pickings should the chance arise to have him back). Shame Millwall dont have a GK they wanna loan us too. Seems like a decent bloke their man in charge.

Daly i cant see him returning. Either Huddersfield require his services or a club further up the leagues want to have a go at him.

Me too ! Thought he looked like he had a bit of pace & would have benefited from full time experience.

do not be too hard on the lad. away from full time football for nearly 10 years. playing most of his career in the national league north. what did anyone really expect. players need more than just the basics of being a trier.

Hes had 2 one on ones with the keeper at Bristol n Carlisle and missed by inches.
Judge him when he gets up to match fitness.

if any player is not match fit they should not be in the starting 11 unless there is no one else to pick.

im under the same impression - i know the lad needs time to adjust into this level but he shouldnt be risked as hes clearly not fit enough yet for 90 mins. He should be brought on to run the line at like 65 mins and cause the opposition trouble when they are flagging. he didnt look the type to close down his man last night - i think he prefers balls in the box and balls to his feet on the edge of the box. Again going off last night we need a creative spark who 1. is fast 2. wants to go forwards to beat a man. Ill give Carver 5/6 games yet.

Crawford in the Cup games is prepared to run at defences and create opportunities, whereas in league games he doesn't seem to possess the confidence to do so and goes backwards or plays the easy nothing ball....frustrating.

I said this last night when watching the game ! there was a few times in the game where he actually went behind Feaths to receive the ball and there as acres of space in the centre of the park - so frustrating to see us not bossing the midfield and taking the play through those channels when we know he has the ability to do it. Feaths was furious last night with him loads of times with his positioning !

possibly he is playing to instructions in league games and cannot then play his natural game. in the cup and especially the trophy i wonder if the shackles are taken off him and others and are allowed to play their natural games. it does seem more than a little odd that some lads have had their best games in these KO competitions.

we shall see if this theory is correct if he starts the Charlton game. I agree it does seem something is a miss.

plays so careful and back to his old ways during the league yet plays like an absolute baller in the cup games

It’s because he’s played a different role in the midfield and is sat back with featherstone with Gav pushed further forward. This changed in Blackpool when they went to a flat 3 to match up.

I agree though he’s better further forward and we saw when he (and Tom White) play together in this role it made us so slow in transition. We need a big target man but I think carver has held the ball up well so far
