Looking lower down the pyramid striker Jordan Darr of Charnock Richard in the North west counties league has scorned 30 goals in 31 games this season and a total of 51 in 60 games over the last two seasons . Surely must be worth a trial if not now in the summer, better than some of the dross we have on the fringes of the team.

As someone who knows the pyramid system and non league well, that's a low level. It'd be like Pools signing someone from Seaham Red Star or Billingham Town.

I can't seem to find his age, but if he's over 23 then chances are he won't go much higher.

Must agree with Basil you can probably find the top teams in most leagues that low in the pyramid have someone with similar figures. Why has non of the Southern teams given him him a trial or have they?

Not saying I'd be against signing him (which I don't think Pools are anyway). Just saying I doubt he'd be the next Jamie Vardy, and with a new striker in already, it'd be much better strengthening other areas.

I suspect he ain’t gonna bust the bank money wise and thought as worth a punt. How do we know who’s been watching him or not, like I say, a small change signing who might come good..... and in all honesty, what do any of us know to the circumstances o& his signing.

You say about a risk signing but a certain Brian Clough signed John Mcgovern after watching him on the Rift House rec ! He went on to captain a league championship side and win the European cup twice. Iam just suggesting a trial to check on him.

Levi Collins, Boldon Community Association. 34 goals in 14 games last season. 26 in 24 games this season. Should we sign him?

if he has been scoring goals like that he,d have been looked at for sure by local sides higher up the pyramid at least. as someone said there are lads like this all over every football league. its not just about putting the ball into the netbut desire the desire to train, follow fitness regimes and discipline where these lads would fall foul of.

These sorts of players now need to be given a chance - Especially if they have been schooled correctly via a scholarship and released. Quite alot of these young lads seem to get released and then dont get back into the game full time, yet most probably have the ability to make it either in the NL or League 2. Im sure Boro have just signed a young lad from the Isthmian league. Being a striker though and stepping up i think is harder than any other position on the pitch - your almost expected to carry on the goal scoring form from your none league days and if it doesnt happen then your dubbed not good enough. There will be another Jamie Vardy somewhere its just who takes that chance on the lad.

or the sunday league like some are now playing in. was just the same back in the old days of the 2 year apprenticeship. many peaked too early, big lads caught up in size because they physically developed early. then there will be lack of discipline and the different distractions all late teens get themselves involved in. afraid late developers who missed out at acadamies etc. will be very lucky indeed to even get a trial in lower non league because its missing off their CV. know that for certain as my lad fell into that catogary and was lucky to get one trial at kettering where he foolishly attended when ill knowing it was his one and only chance he would ever get.

For some reason, the manager and his team have decided to give him a chance.
I don’t understand the need to ‘Stuka dive, into giving a thousand reasons why not to give him a chance, there’s more negatives here than a power station switch board. Jeeeez.

This is the biggest problem with our youth development in this country - chances just arnt being given and every negative associated with not taking on a 23 yr old whos had no experience at an academy yet shows pure raw talent isnt given the look in.

The team i have involvement in historically only offered anything above 6ft to said scouts. The talent missed was incredible all because we wanted to build a team of giants with no technical ability and about as pacey as a scrum half full of guiness and pies.

Hartlepool and Sunderland where criminal for it when i played Saturday football. Always remember big useless CBs getting trials at the local big clubs yet the pacey small wingers who slotted ball after ball home didnt get a look in.
