Despite the score line, Simon Weaver's Harrogate belied the 43-place gap between the teams in the English Football League in their first appearance at this stage of the competition, in front of a passionate and vocal travelling support.

I didn't know 26 fans and a dog could make that much noise! :shhh:

The Dog made more noise than the 26.

I read that on Twitter as well, absolute bullshit and it's not the first time I've heard the media spew that either.

I remember on the NL highlights on BT Sport, Harrogate would be "spectacular" if they won and "unlucky" if they lost. Along with Simon Weaver getting about 30 seconds of interview time (most clubs on that show got 20 seconds of highlights!!!).

As I said before. Someone somewhere high up in the media must have an huge hardon for them. It's uncanny and bizarre.

Was that written by someone who has only ever reported on Sunday morning matches in the local Betty’s League for a free rag....? Even then it would be stretching credibility.

I’m still pissed off it’s lumped in with the North East local footy coverage, for Christ’s sake it’s just down the road from Leeds. :angry-tappingfoot:

As a matter of curiosity, was Scarborough ever part of North east based sport coverage? It'd be interesting to see if they or Whitby got to a higher level. Would they be shown as much as Betty's FC?

Id like to see Whitby in the NL tbh. Great club with great following. Soft spot for the Seasiders and the Yakka days of scoring for fun. Propa Striker

It's a brilliant ground as well. I've been meaning to go there for a while now yet have never found the time.

It's crazy, even on their doorstep there are bigger teams than Harrogate.

going back to your earlier question - Whitby and Scarborough featured on local radio coverage of both games and end of day round ups etc and sometimes interviews with players/managers of both teams. I know this as the father in law listened to them and still has some recorded on his vast pile of tapes.

im sure both teams will have their day at some point and who knows might even see one in the football League.

thats double coverage then they get. bbc look north yorkshire have em on there coverage as well. doubt even someone living in cornwall who has never left the county could ever class harrogate as being in the north east.

Classing Harrogate in the North east is like classing Portsmouth in the south west.

Scarborough used to feature on itv local news, be good to get them back up the leagues with the darlo, South shields, York etc. At least Halifax are making a good attempt this year, would be a decent localish game for us.

I'd like Halifax more if they didn't postpone games ten minutes prior to kickoff. Is a fairly local game though and pretty good ground.

With a bit of luck providing we stay up next year; should be a much more localish league. Halifax top with someone like Chesterfield to come up. League one has Doncaster struggling with Morcambe etc.

Out of all the teams i miss playing / Wish to play then York and Scarborough would be well up there - Whitby away would be a hell of a day out, lets just hope its them coming to us and not us dropping down leagues to get to them

I wouldn't mind seeing the inside of York's new ground, but am happy to wait till Paddy McLaughlin has fooked right off.

How that man (Paddy) ever got anywhere near our Pools team just shows the dire state of the club at the time.
