That was my choice if we had to play a lge 1 side. I'll take Rotherham in the final as their manager lives in our village and loads of banter to be had with their fans, which usually is good but friendly.
Being at home is a big plus. I don't think Charlton or their fans will fancy the trip to the Vic.
Lets have a full house bouncing.

Charlton fans have a real like for pools and are not anywhere near the same bracket of cocky Stockport fans, must be a Manchester thing that's rubbed off onto Stockport.

Its now or never for the fantasy football.
Beat Charlton
Beat Sutton /Harrogate.
Beat one of the London Boys at Wembley in 50000 crowd.
Nothing wrong with getting carried away.
Part of living the dream.

Arsenal U23 in the final at Wembley for me like

only Rotherham unbeatable on there realistically and thats if they play full strength if they worried about keeping their league position

Rules of competition dont allow that. Can play some but some rules are as the previous years.

Any player who played in previous game of has to play in following one
Any player who is in top 10 appearances at club who has had most starts this season
Any player with more than 40 lifetime appearances including internationals
Any player on loan from a premier league or championship team
Any player on loan at NL,NLN,NLS with the permission of club he on loan at

A minimum of 4 outfield players must meet one of those criteria. IF play lot kids then some them will have to play in the previous home game against Fleetwood or the following league game and thats Portsmouth Away

Our line up against MK Dons in the last round was this.
Charlton: Harness; Matthews, Inniss, Gunter; Blackett-Taylor, Henry, Watson (c), Kirk, Souaré; Leko, Burstow

Subs: Harvey, Elerewe, Ness, Dempsey, Davison, Gavin, Williams

The goalie is our 3rd choice keeper but has played in every game in this cup so far, Burstow is an 18 year old centre forward who has featured on the bench in a few league games, Henry is regular in the u-23 side, all the others have played in the 1st team this season but are now either on the bench or coming back from injury.
The subs bench was mainly u-23 players.
A couple of names you may recognise are Chris Gunter [Wales International] & Ben Watson former Wigan player who scored their winner in the FA Cup final, both these players rarely feature in the 1st team at present.
It is difficult to forecast what our line-up will be by the time the game is played, as this might be the only thing we have to play for as we look like finishing mid- table in the league.

Considering we have never played at Wembley it would be nice if your team just rolled over for us, let us live the dream for one more round.

always had a bit of a soft spot for charlton and the valley to a point that i,d go there if i lived in south london. a home draw in the cup is what all teams want and we,ll have a chance. just worried about sutton who surely will have to increase their away end for their draw.

The big Wembley crowd has gone with pompey getting knocked out, but I guess everyone's chances of winning it have slightly gone up. Have to say Rotherham and Wigan are the stand out teams in it now.

if they get through i hope they draw each other in the next round. as for pools i,m more interested in the charlton game more than the palace one.

Yeah lot of people getting carried away over the palace game saying it winnable. Considering we have never beat a premiership team away, they sit 11th in that league and have players full of class, it's maybe more sensible that we play our best team against Charlton and then the palace game is a bit if a bonus.

yep... we have to take the Pizza cup much more serious. Pools will get shown up at Palace if they place a strong team, lets not get too ahead of ourselves. Prem football is worlds away from the stuff we play at the Vic. Palace have 1 or 2 players who will run and win the game for them. By miracle they play their kids for what ever reason and we get a penalty and hang on then thats the only way we win that game.

Charlton are there for the taking - League one clubs certainly dont bother us anymore, we have put far too many to the sword now to be even the slightest of worried. We are at home and should we play our best 11 (plus the new lads we have). Then that game is ours.

Got to agree with you there, they always seem like the forgotten club.

Realistically this is pools one and only chance of ever getting to wembley in a knock out final by this competition. No for certain i,ll be more than a bit annoyed if players are rested for this game and end up losing it by the odd goal. if palace do play a wekened side the players they will use would walk into a pools starting 11.

Charlton won't be easy, not sure if we have ever beaten them but to have a home game on a cold Tuesday night, to get within one game of Wembley is really as good as we could of asked for.

Charlton are a decent club and visits from their fans have always been friendly on here. Those who come up for the match should be made welcome in the bars and clubs. That said I hope they go home disappointed in the game.

Charlton Athletic Form:

FA Cup 2nd Round they where up here facing Gateshead and put 2 past them.

FA Cup 3rd Round Dumped out at Home to Norwich 1-0.

won 2 out of their last 4 League games all being at Home - Also progressed in the League Trophy with a 1-0 Home win to MK Dons.

They play Crewe away tonight. Should they get beat tonight we know their away form isnt their strong point.

For me - we play our strongest 11 we beat them.

true, but its so close a call that it will depend on which team turns up on the night and get the rub of the green for 90 minutes. seems pools are getting this in cup games but not league ones.
