be interesting anyway as i,ll watch it now. anyone local who can make the game live should get down to the vic and give the lads as much vocal support as they can. coming out to say a quiet vic with 700 or so present is not what the players need right now. the more and as noisy the better.

Not a bad performance. Steady away and a cut above Everton.

Comfortable win really. The most entertaining thing was the new 'shoot on sight' Tom Crawford. He even got booked for verbal aggression! Someone's obviously been doping his porridge.

1900 plus there too. Brilliant turn out for a game like that and Pools progress to the 2nd Round.

Easy win far to strong against a bunch of kids but you can only beat what’s in front of you.

Good crowd and fantastic support. Just as a matter of interest, Tony has now had seven matches in charge,
Won....... 5
Drawn....1
Lost........1

The answer is under our noses.

Sweens nailed it in the post match interview.

The next appointment is more important than the last one as we have so much more to lose.

I wouldn’t be so sure he’d want the gig anyway.

I’d also imagine Jake Simpson and co will be joining Chally soon.

if the fans want him, the players want him and the club want him then surely something could be done to persuade him to take the job. someone older who has had managerial experiance doing the day to day non training ground work but without much of a say on the affairs on the pitch. that way his actual job will not have changed, just his title.

Depends on what happens in the Morecambe v Carlisle group game next Tuesday. Pools are currently top of the group and if Morecambe beat Carlisle will stay top and get a home tie. But Carlisle will go top with a draw or a win (better goal difference) and then Pools will be away to one of the other Northern group winners - Bolton and Rotherham have already won their groups with the rest still to be decided.

There's a page on the format on Sky Sports

"The eight winners and eight runners-up from each group will progress to the knockout stage. The round of 32 ties will be determined by a draw, with the winner of a group drawn at home against a runner up of a group from the same region but not the same original group."

Apparently Everton were all over us and unlucky to lose.

That's certainly not the game I watched!

What's the story with Lewis Dobbin, then ?
Remember a few on here mentioning his name as a possible loan signing earlier in the season.

The problem is people who watch premiership football are indoctrinated into the premiership way, which is knocking the ball around and keeping possession. Everton's kids were very good at it and played some neat stuff but there was a major ingredient missing from their game and that was a cutting edge. Very little goal threat. Good on the ball but that is not enough.
I hope they enjoyed their night out at the VIC and I would like to think that they wouldn't mind having a crack on loan with us after witnessing the atmosphere and our fantastic support.
Here's hoping.

if thats going to be the future of football then i for one are glad that my future is shorter than many. two teams playing like that would make you wish for a 5 day cricket test matches to start.

Let’s be honest Everton we’re just a bunch of kids. I’d be surprised if any of them was over 18. Talented yes but just not strong enough yet.

Onyango in midfield looked very decent and Dobbin up front was a massive threat but overall they played like they didn't want to get injured

Numbers on the back of their shirts were mostly 50 - 60s shows how far down the line they were

So it's an away draw as Carlisle win 2-0 at Morecambe, more practice at trying to win away.

We could get Sunderland away as they win their group, now that would be a canny night out.
