I recall someone on here saying the Echo’s coverage of Pools had improved. Really?
I got a copy yesterday and initially had difficulty finding the report, then found a single column tucked away, the same as as Spennymoor, hardly ‘improved’ coverage, next to Darlo’s four columns and two pictures celebrating their stunning ...... home defeat to Bradford PA. Yes, yes, yes, I know the Echo is a Darlington based newspaper, but they do like to emphasise their role as a regional newspaper and this sort of reporting consigns that theory to the dustbin with me.
I won’t bother again, lesson learned.

Two stories on pools today, one bout Challinor winning manager of the month, and a big piece about raj, saying he was kept quiet at pools for months before actual takeover, also said he paid for us to actually play a game before takeover.

I’m referring to the actual match reports, the gossip column bits are journalistic polyfilla to fill the gaps on quiet days.

They're clearly not sending anyone to cover Pools' away matches, no doubt because they can no longer afford to.

On the other hand, their reporter Matty Jones has been filing original copy on Pools through the week ever since we won the play-offs and he often comes up with stuff that isn't a rehash of interviews on Radio Tees - as the Mail is all too prone to do.

As I've said before, in a few years local papers won't exist even on on digital platforms and we'll have nothing to complain about except made-up stuff on the internet and the odd condescending mention from journalists based hundreds of miles away.
