But you can't take the tinpot out a tinpot club!
Harrogate Town making their friendly with Sunderland behind closed doors less than 24 hours beforehand. Needless to say I find the mackems anger against Simon Weaver FC very satisfying to read.

I don’t know why, but they just annoy me. A novelty club, a plaything till the novelty wears off.

yes, a football league club in harrogate makes a much sense as a puffin sanctury in birmingham. its the 5th nearest ground to me and i,d never dream of going there to even swell the away ranks if pools were not playing.

BT Sport definitely had some connection to them or vice versa. The presenters never ever stopped praising them and Simon Weaver would get at least a 40 second interview every highlight show, Pools would get about 12 seconds of highlights. That's where my gripe comes from at least.

Indeed. Will make things very awkward if the teams results ever go sour

These scenarios where saviours appear to build an obscure club up, confuse me.... was it a lifelong ambition to own a league club or a whim with a limited shelf life...?

Fans of Gretna FC with memories of a season in the Scottish Premier League immediately followed by the owner liquidating the club will have an opinion on that.

Incidentally, I had a look on Google to refresh my memory and it turns out Paul Murray, Evan Horwood, Nicky Deverdics and Fabian Yantorno were all part of their squad that season.

That was because Mick Wadsworth became director of football and de facto manager after ousting Rowan Alexander, man said to have a horrendous temper (or so I recall).

eeing the position of harrogates ground his new ambition maybe is to sell a piece of land for a record price per acre than anywhere previously in the county.

That is one juicy location, a stones throw from the Stray.

The only decent FC in Harragit is Railway Ath, decent people helping out there.

just wonder if old time harrogate town fans have drifted down to them. i,ve heard from someone that a few of the few old time salford fans are not happy where their club has gone. wonder if we,d be happy if some miracle of biblical proportions came to pass and pools got into the premier league. players totally didtanced from ordinary fans and kids with clarence road resembling a war zone on a saturday, sorry sunday afternoon.

Definitely some Railway fans at Harrogate Town, same way there'll be Carlisle fans at Barrow, Blackpool fans at Fleetwood and Fylde, Blackburn fans at Burnley, FCUM fans at Salford, and so on so forth. Funny how those are all in the north west. An absolute melt on twitter the other year called me a fake fan because I support Hartlepool yet went to the FA Vase with Stockton Town. Guess what team he supported? Fucking Wigan!!!

think overall lancashire fans are worse than most. there has always been a situation of fine weather fans who turn up if the team is winning. if pools get into a bad run they do not drift away overnight but a slower drift away. over there its an overnight affair if their sides dare lose a couple of games, do not like their manager or owners. blackpool, bolton and blackburn must be the worst. all live in the past and cannot get their heads round the present. both darlo and pools up to last season for pools at least would have been playing infront of 5 or 600 with their attitudes.
