Cullen appears to be very injury prone.

Seems like that, his career seems to have taken a downward spiral due to all these injuries

That the worry, but if he over them he could be a good signing, I alays rated him at Luton & Blackpool. With good supply from Sterry & Fergy he could get plenty goals, Sill only 29

A cynic would say Mark Cullen fits Hartlepool's profile very well - with Luke Williams finally gone there's a vacancy for a player with a bad injury record Pools are trying to nurse back to full fitness.

Last season he scored twice in Port Vale's 2-0 win in their opening game against Crawley - a feat we'd be very happy for someone to repeat. After that "he struggled with ankle, calf and knee injuries at various points throughout the campaign. New manager Darrell Clarke named Cullen as one of 15 players to be released from the club in May 2021."

He did manage to feature in 18 League games in total last season but didn't score again.

wonder if the medical players have to go through is more stricter now we are back in the league. if so it might prove whether the lad has just been unlucky with injuries or has an underlying problem. in the past many players could not pass a league clubs medical but had long non league careers.

doubt people will get too exited about the signing. however he was on accringtons books for 6 years so they must have thought something about him. possibly they moved on as a club and thought he was not good enough for their division 1 status. again we just have to wait and see.

The lad played for Flyde on loan last season so I'm assuming that DC has done his homework with them and then decided to sign the lad. I think DC has earned a bit of trust on his signing decisions.

Agree. Seems he's versatile and can play in any defensive position, so a useful addition to the squad.

he is basically a right back though who can fill in due to an emergency in other positions. fine if there is an injury in a game but i,d hate to start a league game with the lad playing out of his natural position.

if like you say he is an out an out RB at heart then again DC has covered a position we struggled for last season should Sterry take a knock or red card. Timi isnt the man for RWB and now we have lost Donaldson makes total sense. likewise, should Liddle need cover he seems a good prospect to have along that back line.

wonder whats happening with Francis Angol ? out of all the players left its him who we heave heard little about ? Mols looks set to go (not too bothered about that one) - again would be good cover for Ferguson as i rate Angol and think he would do a job in this league.

Ogle is comfortable playing right-back and left-back, so maybe DC felt we no longer need Angol or Donaldson. It could be coincidence but the day after we sign Ogle, Donaldson announces he is leaving.

yes i think Donaldson realised his game time would reduce even more - seems him and Noble have something going on up Morpeth fair play to them both - both still good enough to turn out for NL sides yet have chosen sunday league pub team football . NM

we need to have players and cover in all positions by players who regard that is their prefered position. do not want a side full of fillers in due to lack of numbers where half the side is moved to accomodate someone coming into the side.

whilst we are getting some good news in DC,s hardest task is still infront of him. finding replacements for armstrong and oates and the goals they scored. the positions most clubs are looking for and the ones you have to pay more wages for even if they are frees. i,ll only fully relax once this has been done and the players prove themselves.

If you listen to Dave Challinor's interview on the OS he definitely wanted Donaldson to stay. Water under the bridge now, like all the other departures. The lads who stayed and the ones who are coming in are all that matters.
