Has not really had a break, after a year long season he's working non stop when he should be having a break, even if just a short one like some of the players. Hoping he doesn't suffer from burnout. As good as mentioned this himself on the Mail site today.
Understandably he can't afford to because of the tight turnaround constraints but it's not as if he can when the season starts either, this also goes for the rest of the coaching staff too I suppose.

It's absolutely mental, the NL Board's parting gift from the comedy underbelly of English professional football.

Then again, we all wanted to play on, we all loved the journey - Dave Challinor and the coaches too. I could say fans should cut them some slack and not go into panic mode if life in League 2 doesn't start well, but what's the point? Fans do what fans do.

I'll be proper annoyed though if certain people who have avoided this board like the plague for most of this season come on with their buckets of cold sick doom and gloom next season. Mods, if any of those pretend Poolies reappear, do your job and ban the fookers.

well for one i,m quite prepared for a very slow start next season and see ending up 4th or 5th bottom at the end a success. think even the thickest fan will hopefully realise that no person in the club is responsible for this situation but the bigger thick buggers who masquerade as the NL board. not sue if its right but i,ve heard a rumour they are not prepared to start next season without fans either unless there is some funding available.

I have heard that DC is refusing to sign a new contract until Raj commits to offering ‘much improved’ contracts to key players to retain their services… if that is not forthcoming, he will see it as an indicator of the clubs further ambitions & will consider offers from elsewhere himself….. can’t really blame him tbh

if true then it goes with my comments yesterday on the future thread. DC and some of the out of contract lads deserve a much improved contract even if they had been beaten in the final. we are talking about a good manager and players here, not harrison or laing.

Sensible from DC though isn’t it as there are few opportunities in football. Not many times when you have the upper hand. I’d have thought Raj would have committed to a budget by now and sat down with DC. Hopefully they are doing that now and DC can crack on.

The doom and gloom merchants still peruse the board, they just don’t post. I see it from my lofty perch.

Same here. I said last week that if Raj made the mistake of being over-cautious with the playing budget now, Pools will spend the whole season playing catch up by signing additional players. He could end up spending as much or more that way, only this time it would be trying to fend off a relegation battle not gunning for promotion.

His decisions will impact season ticket sales too, so he could be literally cutting off his nose to spite his face - especially if Challinor goes.

This week is make or break - it's all rumour and hearsay at this point, but the true situation will have to be revealed in the next few days - we're a calendar month away from the Crawley game!

Just a small financial point; we don't get any L2 money (corrected) for a good few months.

A mention to DC's family as well. They haven't had a family break of any consequence for God knows how long.
Thanks to DC's wife for understanding that the situation is not DC's doing but the clowns that run the National league.
You are playing your part Mrs Challinor and we love you for it.

imagine they discussed the pro,s and con,s of being married to a football manager before he went into it. with the tippy tappy and mobile phones its a 24 hour day 7 days a week job now even when he manages to get some home time. one thing its a job i could never do because of all that. must be somewhat of a relief to get on the training ground and matchdays nowadays for them.

I'm sure they did discuss it but when you're young and starry eyed, you think you and your relationship is indestructible but most of us know different to that.
She appears to be backing and supporting him and I am giving her credit for that. It's not easy.
