Another one of the top performers you would have wanted to keep gone.

Top performers? Really?

Personally think he is the weaker of the others we had for that position.. Cass, Odusina and Liddle.

Again national league standard .... would of wanted a league standard replacement for him anyways. Good luck to the lad

If you look at his career history he's not even National League standard as he's played most football in the National League North.

Good luck to him though, certainly always gave 100% for us.

I think he was definately better than Odusina and judging by DC's team selections so did the manager. Johnson was a threat in the opposition box from set pieces. The thing that let him down was his passing, but I think he would have done a decent job for us in league 2.

The worrying thing is the Northern Echo report saying that Port Vale had offered Johnson terms that Pools "could not match." Dave Challinor will have his own priorities and maybe didn't chose to push the boat right out for Johnson.

On the other hand, if clubs at this level are queueing up to play beggar my neighbour with Pools you've got to ask who else we won't be able to hold onto. Come to that, Challinor still hasn't agreed his own contract extension... Hope there's some good news this week, but I'll be renewing my season ticket regardless. Up The Pools.

He was outstanding this season. Look forward to someone just as good or better.

one of those steady type of players you need in his position. made very few mistakes or nothing really memorable. prefer his type than the odusina being a hero one minute and villain the next. think he will be easier to replace than goalscoring attackers though.

think if we sign cass back on loan, thats reasonable still for a crack at league 2. Featherstone, sterry and oates i would say are most important to get signed up i imagine.

It’s been said many times in the past but at this point we need help from our bigger neighbours more than ever. Newcastle and Boro have helped us this season which is greatly appreciated, but it would be mutually beneficial if we could build on this further - playing for us will develop their young players much quicker than playing for their reserves. So, come on, let’s do it together for the north east.

Having said all that, DC seems to have good contacts in the north west, so hopefully we can get some useful additions from that area as well.

we have in the past had some decent lads from scotland coming down. now we are a league club that could happen again.

Totally agree. We are in league two because of DC's ability to get loanees in, not forgetting the attitude and performance of the loanees themselves.
Plus the backing of Raj.
James, Ravas, White, Bennett, Cass, Armstrong and Elliot all played their part in getting us where we are.
More of the same is required.
Hopefully James and Cass will be telling the young players at their respective clubs of the amazing experience they have had.
There's nothing to stop Sunderland getting involved also.

true. teams get good and bad reputations on how the use and handle loan players if the players themselves knuckle down. even parkhouse got chances but never looked interested. either not good enough or thought pools were beneath him.

Scenario.. Ryan Johnson clears a last minute shot off the line and Devante Rodney runs upfield to score against us!
There's a lot of ex Poolies knocking about in League 2 at the moment.

Our goalkeeper coach has left us now and Sterry is being chased by a host of clubs. One of these is Sunderland apparently, who I would regard as competitors rather than benefactors.

DC certainly has a job on his hands, I know he is talking about carrying on the momentum which is totally commendable, but if he achieves mid table next season it will be a major achievement and I for one would be delighted with that.

the momentum has stalled as quite a few lads involved in it have gone. if we had kept every single player at the club plus good additions i doubt we,d have been higher than 12th at the end. have no idea at all if talks with out of contract players were going on well before the end of the season but if they weren,t that might have caused this leaving the club quite quickly after ashton gate.
