Well where the hell do you start with that. Its gonna take me days to get my head round it.

We were down on the turf when the keeper scores, knackered, beaten, devastated. No happy ending for this team. And Challinor has confirmed it would've been. The team is the right word for it. Determined, skilled, disciplined and together. To bounce back from that and put up a decent show in extra time is real character then to miss your first two pens and still go on to win it with Brad James the hero. You just couldn't write it. That is the most dramatic game and most important victory in our history. It hasn't sunk in, no idea when it will.

I never once thought we'd get back into the FL. Relegated, on our arses with a crook who sent us hours from going bust. To come back, rebuild with an excellent and I mean top class manager. On an average budget and the calibre of player he's got in, not only that but they were the right characters. Helping kids in Hartlepool, buying tons of supplies for food banks, always ready to chat. Team spirit and never say die. Great bunch of lads and they've done me, the club and the town proud.

Arise Sir David Challinor. You are now a club legend. And will forever be.

Am buzzin for Carlisle away like.

Agree with every word. I am 67 and been a pools fan since 1965 and when we lost our league status and seeing that awful National league and the recent history of HUFC i wondered if I would ever see Pools back in the FL again. Thank you lads with all my heart. As The Proclaimers might say..Bromsgrove no more, Maidenhead no more. Bring on The Cumbrians, Grecians et all.

There's not a word there to disagree with - it was an afternoon of unbelievable, gut wrenching emotion ending in pure elation for Poolies. Everybody in the ground expected Torquay to get a second goal early in the first half of extra time. Gary Liddle says the players were knackered and feeling completely deflated after the goal - but somehow they clawed their way back into the game. Maybe the injury to Andrews and long delay really was the turning point, but we looked the most likely winners by the end of extra time.

Then that ridiculous penalty shootout - imagine if it played out that way for England, Scotland or Wales in the Euros. Nobody would ever hear the end of it!

Davey C mentioned in his post match interview (the one doing the rounds on Facebook) that even he couldnt believe how his team of almost 'misfits' had managed such a feat. Giving credit to the players who had fallen out of favour or formally released and deemed not good enough by other clubs. Almost like the mighty ducks, coming together and over achieving. still in dreamland atm !! also if you want a laugh, read the Torquay fan pages

The assistant of a certain ex-manager of ours had a good reputation for finding players regarded as has-beens and misfits that fitted perfectly into teams that went on to great success.

Let's hope Dave Challinor has similar abilities as Peter Taylor. He hasn't done bad so far.
