Errr... Cyril Knowles and Neale Cooper put together great sides for Pools but the other thing they have in common is they both died relatively young. I'm sure DC will be happy to wait several decades for any similar accolade!

Exactly why wait till someone passes away to honor them.

By the way i think DCs achievement is a bit special looking at the way the club was when he arrived.

Was expecting this thread to be about him taking the Spurs job.

Challinor Road is in the same part of town as Micky Barron Close, Ritchie Humphreys Way, etc so all the council have to do is stick a “Dave” in the front and they’re away...

To be fair the club was not in to bad a state when Challinor took over. Yes he has been excellent but the real credit should go to Mr Singh, who has supported him endlessly as he did for the previous managers. Challinor has been heavily supported in the loan market and chosen well generally, but at the beginning of the season there were some poor signings as well and the squad must have been very costly with a few signed and placed in the never play again list very quickly - Parkhouse (loan seemed to end long before finish), MacDonald, Bloomfield, Ofuso, Crawford, Ravas (desperately replaced on young gamble James (thanks!).

Mr Singh deserves much credit for accepting these burdens on the wage bill and still endlessly supporting Challinor.

Great that it all worked in the end. After the support he has had surely he can't leave for a lower league club.

think antony sweeney should be given a lot of credit too. the actual turn round started in his month in charge. as for the dead legs he did sign at least he did not persevere with them as some may have done in the past. doubt the pools wage bill would have been anything like the stockport one or the rest of the league clubs in our old league. teams like solihull, eastleigh and boreham wood have never done it on the cheap either.

The biggest area that DC improved to my mind was the team ethic. The way they play for each other and are clearly together is very reminiscent of the Neale Cooper era.

Read yesterday that Josh MacDonald got a 2 year contract when he signed so he's one of the 5 players currently on Pools' books. Ah well, even the best managers make the odd misjudgement. No doubt he'll get a pre-season to make up the numbers, then hopefully Blyth, Darlo or the Heed will have him on a season long loan.

Oddly did anyone notice in the celebrations at the end that Crawford and MacDonald both tracksuited up celebrating with the players - yet no sign of Bloomfield and Ofosu. Yet Claudio randomly ended up on the pitch in his normal civy gear celebrating with the lads ? Joe grey also in none club attire (that no so odd).

Wonder if Bloomfield and Ofosu contracts have expired and already been told no longer needed at the club. Cant see them being part of the plans for next season at all.

For the pre-match warm up Crawford was in his kit and took part in everything. I guess he was the reserve sub in case anyone pulled up with an injury in the warm up.

The four players you mention are all young lads so it will be interesting to find out if the gaffer thinks any of them have the potential to improve with another season at the club. Based on the number of appearances, Tom Crawford is the most likely to get that chance. Can hear fans howling Nooooo! but technically he is a tidy player. He just lacks the self-belief to do anything much of consequence on the pitch!

Pretty sure I heard several Pools players got furloughed, including Ofosu. Would assume he'll be released and probably find a club in the NL South or maybe even Isthmian league.
