No surprise to be honest, even at stadiums open a few months back no alcohol was allowed. God knows if itll ever comeback, as no doubt the Gov will see alcohol sales banned at grounds as a win for them, and overpriced gastro pubs (cough wetherspoons) as well.

Its mental really! Can buy a drink in a pub yet not outside where transmission rates are almost non existent.

why people bother is beyond me. its usually overpriced shit in a plastic glass anyway that fans moan about it.

Depends what ground really, but you're right though, never understood the whole obsession with going to a ground to spend usually tripple what you pay for the same drink at the local off license.

What makes it more ridiculous is that a fan watching the rugby yesterday could have a pint whilst they watched the game. Double standard of how football fans are viewed compared to rugby fans.

In december Bath's council decided Bath City FC would have to play games behind closed doors. The day City played with no fans, Bath Rugby were allowed 1000 fans.

In July, cricket games were allowed spectators, football games even at grassroots level were behind closed doors until August 22nd! And even then the allowed numbers were measly.

All while flights came in from the likes of India and Spain. Football has always been stigmatized, in the 80s we were all hooligans, in the 2000s we were all chavs, and now we're all racist. Not saying football doesn't have it's fair share of bad eggs, but the media will always go out their way to portray us as primitive, uncivilized savages...and I'm sick of it. Because this is the same media who NEVER hold the government to account.

by all accounts the mindless minority was at it yesterday though. this makes a good story for the media where people like my brother in law who has never been to a match in his life can jump on the anti football agenda. think cricket and both rugby codes especially union does have a larger amount of older fans than football. this is where they see the problem. we were all noisier when we were young and more likely to get egged on by others when in a crowd or group.
