Off to Wrexham next season… as long as we don’t get promoted we’ll have to play there.

Lousy timing for more speculation - I'll believe it when it happens. Challinor is going to feature strongly in the betting for every lower league managerial vacancy in the North West for the foreseeable future. Time for Raj to make him a great offer on a contract extension.

If you didn,t see this coming you must be walking round with you eyes closed.
Why do you think Wrexham have not made an appointment before now.

Who wouldn,t want a manager with a +50% win rate.

If he did go i would wish him well, But not sure he would.

If he has applied or been approached, I would understand if he seriously considered the job as it is probably quite near to his home.
However he just might be keen on finishing what he has started at Pools, where he is highly regarded. Raj appears to be totally behind him and that is worth something, whereas these Americans at Wrexham appear to be looking for instant success, as do their fans. It is a big decision, especially if Raj makes the effort to keep him.
If he is under pressure to get a job nearer home, that could be a big factor, maybe the deciding one.
I'm surprised Chandy hasn't broached the subject but maybe he has and DC has warned him off.
Classic case of wait and see but that doesn't stop speculation.

the main worry for me is if challinor did go to wrexham what would we replace him with. got a feeling wrexham will get a better manager if they do not get challinor than pools will if he goes. history of managerial appointments has been dire now at pools for years.

Heaven forbid Challinor has been promoted, he'll probably get linked with the likes of Barcelona and PSG now.

honestly if i was dave challinor i,d leave for a good offer. his job at pools seems to be getting harder by the day and could end up as too big a challenge for him staying.

Aye the silence is deafening but I did warn that DC had his work cut out.
We'll see what today brings.
I was already worried but now I'm a tad more worried.

Footballers now are mainly mercenaries, you get that small percentage who are loyal to one club but they are becoming rarer, there will be an abundance of footballers out there from today, a lot who will be keen just to get a job, let's not panic yet, I have great faith in the Manager we have.
Our problem may be usually you would have a player on a trial basis initially to weigh up their strengths and attitude, we may not have the luxury of that benefit, this is when you have to rely on the judgement of your trusted contacts in the game and whether they can confirm and recommend these attributes in certain players.

Agreed. The critical element is keeping the manager. As long as he stays, we have a good chance to re-establish the club in the Football League. I'd love to keep as many of the key players from last season as we can - including the loanees - but it's inevitible that some will leave.

I'm pretty sure I saw an interview where DC stated that they were working on two plans for next season based on which division we were in. We'll have a much better idea of how that plan is working over the next few weeks.

its only a job of work to them. loyalty goes both ways with clubs offloading players at the end of their contracts because of their wages seeming too high. the same wage they were at one time quite willing to pay but now can find someone cheaper to replace them. there are players who follow the money just like we do with jobs. you get very few players born and bred in the town they play for and even less who were fans of the club as kids.

all promoted managers have these different lists. then they,ll have first choices for different positions the 2nd, 3rd and so on. just hope his first choices are still available and they are willing to sign. managers know more than we do about players who are willing or not to move to the area. if i was a player nothing on this earth would get me to sign for colchester, southend or a london area club. there will be players who do not fancy the north east the same.

You've got to hope Pools are very busy behind the scenes and want to make a big splash announcing that a group of players have signed contract extensions or joined the club.

This is only the ninth working day since Pools achieved promotion but feels a lot longer to us fans. Wonder how long it feels to Dave Challinor, who is 5 and a bit weeks from his first fixture as a League 2 manager! As we know, he's a very organised bloke and will have had his list of priorities all worked out even before the play off final.

You've got to wonder how far Raj is prepared to go to meet his expectations, and talk of offers to players not being much above what they were getting in the National League is very worrying. It's fair enough for people like Donaldson who are going to be squad players, but the market value of the likes of Rhys Oates and Jamie Sterry has changed and needs to be reflected in serious money offers from Pools. If they're contracted for 2-3 seasons they can always be sold on in the future if things don't go as well for Pools on the pitch as hoped - right now they all walk away for nothing.

We all have to wait and see, I think we all get that but the silence IS deafening and speculation is gathering pace, especially concerning the rumour mill.
Season ticket sales need galvanising and maybe a big moment will come with regard to recruitment/retention which will spark sales off.
I bloody hope so.
Meanwhile...........................

Probably every League club is more or less in the same boat at this moment in time.
Waiting for the announcement of Freedom Day to get Season Tickets back on sale to generate income to sign new players etc!

Ye Pools will have more recruitment to do than most other clubs due to the short turnaround from our last game to August 7th.
But it's a nice problem to have.
A lot better than anutha season in that badly run tinpot league.
Onwards n Upwards

I've not renewed our season tickets yet - have had them for over thirty years but, after last year (and the insulting 'recognition' from the club) I really do want to see some positive action - or I might just revert to a pay on the day supporter (and I have always - perversely - preferred away days).

Poor appointment by them. Think I'd even rather have an old yet experienced Conference manager like John Still.
