Challinor needs to make sure his players see that.
Added incentive.

Let’s be honest Stockport are clear favourites. The last time we played a top of the table clash away we got tortured, Stockport with a crowd and some quality players will be hard to beat. The keeper situation at pools doesn’t fill me with confidence to win big games away. I hope we go for it again on Sunday like last week and hopefully not suffer a big dip in performance in the second half. If we get to the final anything can happen.

We may bring Ravas back for Sunday as the BT commentary kept mentioning how unconvincing James was, I'd love to see the lad do well but can we really afford to take the risk in such an important game?

Challinor wouldn’t do wrong by telling the players to watch the new Amazon prime documentary on Crystal Palace’s championship winning team before Sunday. So many parallels to us and they win it with an organised, hard working team albeit with a Prem bound Zaha in tow.

with more fans in the ground on sunday than at the vic who will be equally as noisy challinor has a big decision to make. i have never seen ravas make a top class save but again he has made less obvious mistakes than james. the latter is a typical young modern keeper. he,ll save a shot where he is not expected to do then the next attack he,s equally likely to cock it up and give a goal away. think it might end up being down to who the manager thinks has the best temperament for a big game infront of a noisy crowd.

The big question for me concerns the Ref. Will he succumb to the pressures from a screaming crowd???

we have definatly had the guy a couple of times this season. one of the better ones for me. can work against the home side if he goes out with the mindset of not being swayed by the crowd and give us the benefit of the doubt.

For some reason, Hartlepool are always, and have always been underestimated. I remember a few years back when both us and Orient went down, similar scenario, similar shite players yet Orient were a "dark house for promotion" for the following season while we were "relegation candidates". How the fuck does that work??? Oh wait, Adam Virgo in the Non League Paper, that's how!

Virgo was a season out on Orient getting promoted (as champions). Pools did nowt, finished 15th and 16th and nearly went bust. All in all it was a pretty good prediction

Why are they clear favourites?
They only finished a point ahead of us,we've taken four off them & their record against the top seven is poor.

if this had been a cup semi final played between the 3rd and 4th in the premier league there would be hardly anything between the sides. although or record there is poor their home record is not great although they have only lost twice. so many draws though and its really odds on to go to extra time and possibly penalties. the interesting thing will be who the neutrals watching on the box want to win.

To be fair to the lad I wouldn't be shocked if BAArbers had been closed since March 2020 considering their lockdown restrictions.

They have spent big on their team, unbeaten in 18 games, at home in front of their own fans and we have a second choice keeper in goal who has had a bit of a nightmare start.

my lad thinks they are odds on favourites to win. they can win the game or can lose it but pools cannot win it. he might be a little biased but sometimes in an important game someone unexpected can have the game of their lives and could be our keeper. doubt it will be armstrong and oates for us or rooney and reid for them that gets em over the line.

Sorry Accrington got to disagree with your son.

So many variables involved in a game of this size. Across the full season there was 1 point between us. We face a big challenge but if we want it more, are set up tactically sound then I think one moment of class / a mistake could settle it. Could be Stockport or Pools.

Key thing is getting the first two of those correct. Favourites on paper and with the bookmaker but saying Pools ‘can’t’ win a match of football against anyone in this division is wrong

he explained his comment to me which i said was fine if the game was played on paper or on a computer. so much to go right and wrong. win or lose i just hope that no pools players have a nightmare or miss a penalty to become the fans scapegoat if they are with us next season.
