I see the Hartlepool Fail are linking him with Tranmere, knowing the Fail I'm surprised he's not linked with Real Madrid.

No doubt they'll link us with Craig Hignett on a 12 year contract. I swear that paper hates our club.

Oh wait, cough, amateur detectives, cough.

Micky Mellon is the favourite for the Tranmere job.

Bookies' odds on who'll get a manager's job are wrong as often as they're right at every level of football. Even if they turn out to be right this time I'd say the chances of Raj taking a punt on an unknown or has-been for a replacement are very slim.

That's not to deny losing Challinor would be a big blow and this speculation on the eve of the play offs isn't great. Rooting for Morecambe to beat Tranmere in the L2 play offs tomorrow night.

If there is one thing I know for sure, it's that Singh rates Challinor and will do all in his power to keep him.

For me, Challinor is our teams greatest asset. We'd really struggle to find a replacement, let alone someone equal or superior.

Dave Challinor has done a pretty good job and certianly the best at Pools in a long time. However,

he has not been promoted from the NL (yet) and has no FL managerial experience
has brought in signings and loan signings that have disappeared from sight
he has a good first XI but not much strength on the bench
he has struggled to get the defence organised and has hit on three at the back by trial and error and even changed from it

So if you are reading this Mr Tranmere Chairman, he's not the man for you.

Hey Tranmere, please instead recruit local lad Dave Jones. I'm sure he'll do a great job!

We will undoubtedly lose DC at some stage - he is that good - but my fear is how many of our players will follow him. Imagine Oates and Armstrong starting for Tranmere? And Bennet!

DCs Nothing is a lot more than the previous few managers. He's instilled a bit of faith n hope back into the club.
Get us up n keep him I'd say.

Up until a few years ago, we'd of signed a 90 year old, paraplegic, blind man if he was somehow connected to Middlesbrough football club. We'd also sign players for second, if not third stints even when their last stints were epic failures (Oates been the exception). We'd sign players we knew would never not be injured.

Dave Challinor has changed all that. it's a breath of fresh air. No other reason why we've done so well this year.

spot on. the club has gone back years now where we expect pools to win where for years victories have been an unexpected bonus we received. not many clubs at our level also lose players fans would have liked to keep to replace em with better ones. both full backs being the best examples for me.

I have another manager Tranmere should look into, Martin Scott. Sure he'll do good for them.

Club close to home

Club you've played for

Club with sufficient money to avoid the need to rebuild every season - and the need to rely on gamble loan signings

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

6/4 with the bookies

Some interesting quotes out of this one. Really hope the wheels are not coming off at just the wrong time, having been damn good all season. Come on pools!

If he left, would anyone want us to give Sweeney a chance? We played really well when he had that short spell before Challinor was appointed and will have learnt more under him. Would be a big risk though.

After all, a random bloke on twitter is the best source you can get.

I heard Ebbsfleet United are on the cusp of bringing in Giovanni Trappatoni as a director of football.

think a lot of us have witnessed similar performances at harrogate in the past. it seems these plastic pitches bother some pools players more than players at other clubs. with the ability a lot of pools players have you,d think they,d thrive on em but it does not seem the case.

If DC goes we will be back interviewing the likes of Lee Clark, apparently he is managing a world beating side in Sudan. Please Raj keep the momentum going on the playoffs.

actually sweeney turned the side around before challinor came in. mind you so did bates when he replaced jones. you could say well that wasn,t difficult. however its a big risk as we could end up with another bates who is fine for a couple of months but for some reason cannot do the job on a longer period of time.

Of all the options we'd have, Sweeney would be the only decent one.

We don't know what the options will be at the point where Pools actually have a managerial vacancy. Which is not now - and Challinor isn't exactly selling himself to Tranmere with 3 defeats in the last 4.

but on the back of a long unbeaten run. if that run had not existed i doubt the defeats, apart from the maidenhead one, would hardly get a mention. again who predicted seriously that pools would be where they are this season.
