About the Bradford clubs , City and Park Avenue

Always had a soft spot for PA, like many fans it appears. Remember when we played at City in 1993, I took some time out before the game ( an hours drinking time ) to take a look at what was left of their old ground. It was a very haunting and moving experience, with a tree covered terrace, toilet block, turnstile and the pitch still there to be seen.

Below are two pics from their last game in the FL in April 1970,a young Kevin Keegan in the pic somewhere apparently

I love the old grounds full of history and memories from when football first began.

Me too, also love pics of ordinary people on the terraces, makes you wonder what became of the young kid on the bottom right of the pic, was he taken along to the game by his dad like I was , basically just because hiw mam wanted him out from under her feet , did he start supporting City when they went out of the league, what did the other 2000 do, once the club went out of the league? we know they soldiered on for a few more years in the Northern Premier with even less supporters, but then after that where did they go? , elsewhere or did they stop altogether, we will never know, and that is what I find fascinating. Hope it never happens to us.

I think they still play as Bradford AFC.
That little kid on the terrace looks like a young Kevin Keegan LOL.

Boro got a kid from BPA. Inside forward called Gibson and he was a star with them. Boro fans hailed him as the new Wilf Mannion.

Still play as PA Derwent, same league as Spenny , ground on outskirts of Bradford, Pools played there a few years ago pre season

2nd div club back in the day, bigger club than city, so a BPA told me , certainly a better ground. Kevin Hector the last big player of note who came from BPA.

as well as len shackleton. remember after moving to yorkshire my school was full of halifax, huddersfield and bradford park avenue fans. the latter in the early 60,s used to laugh at bradford city and their fans. somehow i just cannot see them moving their support across the city when BPA went. its like hating boro now and then supporting em if pools disappeared. probebly do like me when i cannot see pools. pick the local game you fancy without having any new club to fully support.

in an athletics stadium less than a mile from odsal stadium. could be easily playing them again next season. at least they sell chips inside the ground and a decent boozer for away fans nearby.
