Not such a new topic really but can someone enlighten please?
Forgetting all the virus stuff and the uncertainty over what happens next, say things were to get back to some kind of normality in the near future, say Raj were to put the club up for sale for I don't know...£1m,£2m, 65p whatever... Hpothetically if Pools fans were suddenly given a figure for sakes of arguments..£1m what would they inherit if they could get the finance together? Yes, the club stock and barrel plus players and assets whatever they may be. The new owners the fans take stock, do the decent thing and pay any outstanding monies to former employers who have a genuine grievance over non-payment. So that would be club bought, books looked at an idea I suppose of what income there has been/might be and expenditure which should be there so that all with reasonable intelligence can understand. Then there is this debt, or debts which is/are the parts of all this I don't understand. Yes or no in the event of a sale the money might or not be found to save Pools for another day but what exactly has been signed up to in these debts to persons who the FA clearly never have heard of and didn't wish to ask any questions of.

I would appreciate any layman's terms insight into all of this and even if called stupid, thick whatever who cares. Help me out here Bunkerites so I can have a better understanding of all this.

always find pools financial situation shrouded in mystery. not one who gets turned on by financial matters and leave it to others who know more and have more interest. if i had the dosh i would buy pools tomorrow. what i would not do is put money into a sinking ship but look beyond for the possible pheonix club. unless someone or group turns up with really big money behind them and are trustworthy then sticking plasters have only a short shelf life.

In hard nose terms the fixtures and fittings don’t have huge value, perhaps a few hundred grand. That’s the assets covered. Next is the liability of several million. Add in the goodwill (pluck a number from the air) end result is that the club is actually worth less than nothing if you strip out emotion.

What it Definitely isn’t worth is £800’000 for 10%.

Like I've said before, if I won a substantial amount on the euromillions, I would offer to take over the club for a token fee, say a £1, sort out the debt and then run the club properly with the right people in place.
I would be prepared to fund any shortfall in the running costs and, at the same time look for partner investors, preferably fellow Poolies and/or local businessmen under fair conditions.( nowhere in the region of £800k for 10 %)
I would pursue every revenue raising angle known to man to make us a genuine league one club or even the odd trip into the championship.
I would raise the ground capacity to at least 10000, whilst making significant improvements to the match day experience, yes including the temperature of bottled water and the catering.
My wife would look after the finances and my daughter the Admin.
None of us would take a salary or dividends.
And that would be just the beginning.
