Newcastle live on Sky Racing (free to Virgins) today.
Unfortunately a horse killed which i presume was not in the PR departments script for the first day after lockdown.
I personally like the spectacle but when this happens i start to doubt myself.

for someone like me who likes horses and have looked after them it always annoys me when people get facinated with the grand national where there are horse deaths nearly every year it runs. accidents can always happen but that race for me is close to being barbaric.

Poor horses , they have never had it easy ,whether its horse racing , pulling tubs of coal or getting cut down during battle. Their role in the history of mankind is often overlooked.

It's a rare event for a horse to be so badly injured that it has to be put down in a flat race.

Glad the gee gees are back - the French racing has been on TV for the past couple of weeks and four of us have been having a Saturday race day courtesy of Sky Sports and a Zoom meeting. Horse racing behind closed doors on TV works fine as a spectacle - as will the golf when it gets back on. Not sure about the football - 5 minutes of the practice match atmosphere of the Bundesliga was enough for me.

I had horse meat in France once and found it very good.
Personally i find cows cuter to horses so would willingly switch.
