I always buy seedless Jam, just because I don't like the texture of the seeds/bits of fruit. I always thought I took after Dad but turns out he's not bothered either way. Anyway I get the 27p Strawberry Jam from Aldi and it's tasty. As for Marmalade I went off it as a Kid as I didn't like the Shreds of Peel in it. Again it's a texture thing. However I really now like the Aldi 27p Marmalade as it has hardly any bits in and they are small and thin.

What's other Bunkerites opinions and preferences on this Hot Topic.

You have already outed yourself as a dodgepot on this matter as no doubt you will be putting both on cold toast.

Neither are for me, apart from butter I only really like Marmite on my toast.

Well PJ you have a better memory than me or maybe my no 1 fan/cyber stalker? Have I really mentioned this before?

27p for a jar of sugared fruit banghead

To make jam its 500g of fruit and 500g of jam sugar, combined costing over £3 and yet you can buy a jar for 27p sctatchinghead

I have toast and marmite unless I have something cooked like a bacon sandwich.

PJ of course the toast was buttered cold.

Mr Derwent, Marmite is a No and for Dinner I did have a Smoked Streaky Bacon and Fried Egg Toasted Sarnie.

Marmalade or nothing here. And none of that poncy foreign marmalade. Robertsons. Complete with the much maligned golly.

Both , though only buy Jam occasionally and will only ever have Marmalade when staying in a hotel. Marmite on toast for me on a morning.

Aye you either love it or hate it.
When my wife bakes her delicious scones, I have jam on them. At the moment we are on a nice jar of bramble jam, very tasty.
I like marmalade but I don't have it very often.

Aldi's Classic Strawberry Conserve is exceptionally good, big lumps of fruit, mind you it's best part of a quid a jar! Can't whack a cheddar and strawberry jam sandwich.

I do like a strong cheese and jam sandwich on home made bread, I make my own jam and it has big chunks of strawbs in it, peanut butter and jam is also a winner.

Marmalade had some very catchy close harmony work, but Jam had Bruce Foxton on bass, which makes Jam better.

Marmalade for me and has to be St Dalfours, no shite in it. Been really tricky to get hold of for a long time so having to settle for their strawberry jam.

My missus likes cool toast so that the butter doesn't melt into the toast. She likes it to sit on top.

There's a joke in there somewhere. Mr Monkeybutt?

Buy online direct from St Dalfour 2.19 a jar and yes if she puts the butter on the opposite side, it`s called the reverse cowgirl

I suggest we use buttered toast as yellow cards and jam toast as red cards.

I've accused the French of a lot of things but one thing I've never accused them of is knowing what marmalade is supposed to look and taste like.

Looks like I'm in the minority on how toast should be buttered. Which doesn't make me wrong because I'm in the minority. It just means there's more wronguns than rightuns. FTR Dad likes his toast buttered hot,so he's a wrongun.

If you are buttering toast and it hasn't melted, leaving glorious little butter puddles of joy... then you have done it wrong

Real cheddar from Cheddar has suddenly appeared on the shelves here and it's absolutely lush (not just my opinion) . How did all those fake cheddars from any old place get away with it for so long?

I can't eat Raw Cheese, so if cooked in a Toastie, or in with food, or grated on and melts, I'm fine.

Use a potato peeler on the edge of the butter to make 2 slices, then let that melt into the hot toast. Saves all the chew.
