I do enjoy watching them but it's about time they were put back in their box. They've got off lightly considering other allegations of how they got around FFP to put that team together.
The only negative is I can't imagine De Bruyne wanting to play in the Europa league and Man City won't sell him to a rival, he'd be a huge miss for the Premier League.
Who's going to manage Man City next season? Big Sam is free!

I'm sure I read last night they were banned from the Champions League. You're right it's all European competition.
Wonder what it'll be after the appeal? No doubt it'll be reduced or some of it suspended but surely they can't wipe the entire 2 years off?

This must have been rumbling in the background for a long time. Could account for the dip in form as all the top players scrutinise their contacts for get out clauses.
Just hope pools don't get caught out on this.

I can count on the fingers of one foot how many tosses I give about this.

Yep, I reckon this could filter down and mean an extra place up for grabs in the Durham Senior Cup...

How City can be charged but teams like PSG, Real and Man Utd get away with it is beyond me. FFP only exists to protect clubs that were successful 20 years ago, it's a massive con. If UEFA wanted to curtail spending they'd have imposed real limits.

PSG weren't there 20 years ago. They didn't win the French ligue 1 between 1994 and 2013. But then PSG is Qatar's toy. And those blokes in Qatar know how to be persuasive because they even managed to get the World Cup.

PSG got a small punishment by effectively pleading guilty-ish to similar offences during the same period of time. Part of the deal was an agreement that there would be no further investigations into that period so even if the hacker who published the emails that suggest Man City lied during earlier FFP investigations did the same to PSG they'd be fine.

Real and Barcelona both benefit from big gates and a domestic TV deal that gives them the lion's share of the cash. They don't need to fiddle FFP because they generate a fortune anyway.

Man United can't be looked at the same way because their owners have actually been ripping money out of the club for the last decade.

Having said all that I think Phil is right about FFP protecting the established clubs - it doesn't limit spending except in relation to your turnover so if you're already a 'superclub' you can outspend any club that isn't.

Bayern Munich buy all the best talent in the league yet they've thrown more mud than anyone since this all came to light.
Surely if someone is happy throwing their own cash at football let them, it's a much better end product than Coxall or Mike Ashley running a club.
